Tarres Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Is this navigational mode (Memory mode) implemented? If it´s implemented, is there any guide about how to set the required parameters?
Mordants Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 As far as I'm aware there are no parameters to be set, memory mode is activated when the doppler signal is unreliable, therefore losing tracking info. When it becomes reliable again memory mode is extinguished. Tarres Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 Yes. but I´m talking about the "Menory Mode" of the control set. Some documents talk about set the selector in the "MEMORY" position in other to perform a great circle navigation.
Mordants Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 I'd be interested as to where that info is and where the selector is to set the "MEMORY" position in other to perform a great circle navigation. I've just re read the DCS manual on the DISS-15 and see no mention of that. sLYFa Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 The "Memory" position is a test function to test the memory mode, it can be activated on the DISS test panel behind the FO. If you want to do great circle navigation (which makes no sense on the maps we have and AFAIK the earth is considered flat in DCS anyway), you need to switch the gyrocompass to GPK and follow your orthodromic course. i5-8600k @4.9Ghz, 2080ti , 32GB@2666Mhz, 512GB SSD
Ce_Zeta Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 In operation DISS should be in Operation mode. Memory mode is automatically switched when DISS doesnt have readings (flying over water, bank rolls exceding 30 degress...), you can see memory mode in operation during traslational fligjt when a green light with an "n" is displayed in the drift and GS gauge. As sLYFa said, it doesnt make sense to fly in DCS with Orthodromic navigation as the maps are too small and DCS maps are flat. But if you wanna do it, dont forget to fix the drift of the system, at least, every hour as in the Mi-8 we don't have RSBN for automatic fixes. [sIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/YexElgV.jpg[/sIGPIC]
