Odessa Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Good day All Could you please clarify a couple of questions? 1.As I understand World itself requires 100+ GB on disk Right? 2.For example module A-10. I see in spec that it wants 120 or 350 GB (for VR) Does it mean that I have to download additional 120GB? In addition to the already installed 100+GB World? And in case of VR - additional 350 GB? 3. If I decide that my VR is not good enough - will I have to uninstall the 350 GB module and then install it back but without VR support (120 GB)? 4. If later I decide to buy also KA-50 - again 120 or 350GB to download? Looks like World has all modules (without VR) and I will just switch them ON when I buy. And I will not have to download 120 \ 350 GB for each module again.. Am I right? Thank you

But you need space for swap files, save games, etc. But I could be wrong.2. No. The A-10 module should not be more than a couple of Gigs. It's less than 5 Gigs for sure. I have every module and map, and the total is about 300 Gigs. There ain't no installation difference between deskscreens and facescreens. 3. No.4. No, you only need to download the new modules. Again I will assume a couple of Gigs for the Shark. Maps are the largest modules. Campaigns the smallest.5. NoYou download the core installer once, and it will download the rest. Then depending on the modules you own, download more.Again, there is no difference between "2D" and "VR". You "decide" when you start the game.BUT! Whenever there's an update, you need to download the update(s). And for my 300GB install, that's usually 65Gigs if the update is large. Now, that's not an issue for me as it takes about 5 minutes. But here your milage will definitely vary.Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
Odessa Posted December 30, 2021 Author Posted December 30, 2021 Thank you for answer! So I can expect World + "A-10C" will be around 150 GB? And "Ka-50" maybe +10 or +20? That's ok. I just saw that on official web page https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/stable/: " HIGH graphics settings: Free hard disk space: 120 GB VR graphics settings: Free hard disk space: 350 GB " And I was curious - if the same installation can be used in VR and non-VR modes then where do these 350 GB come from? Thanks again

sthompson Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I suspect the higher disk requirements for VR are related to shader files and the like that are created on the fly by DCS, and not part of the download directly. But you might ask in the VR forums. 1 I'm Softball on Multiplayer. NZXT Player Three Prime, i9-13900K@3.00GHz, 64GB DDR5, Win 11 Home, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, TrackIR 5, VKB Gunfighter III with MCG Ultimate grip, VKB STECS Standard Throttle, CH Pro pedals
Dragon1-1 Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 I currently have several (but not all) terrains, the majority of modern modules, and it all takes up about 273GB. 350GB might be for a complete install with every module at once. VR doesn't change anything, really. You just need to make sure you're installing on an SSD, because DCS seems sensitive to that.

ED Team maximov Posted January 1, 2022 ED Team Posted January 1, 2022 Now the size of the required free space on the hard drive is specified for each E-shop product. Sorry for this misunderstanding. Happy New Year! 1 1
