Since the normal rudder trimmer isn't working for a twist stick, wondering what the "Rudder Trimmer" option in the special menu actually does? I tried flying with it checked and unchecked but don't see a difference

The Rudder Trimmer bounds the pedals to the cyclic stick trim button. So when you are applying left or right pedal and you press and release the trim button, the pedals will we kept at the position it is in when the trim button was released.

thats how i thought it's supposed to work (like the mi-8 and ka-50) however pressing the rudder trimmer button while twisting the joystick does not actually trim the mi-24 or keep the rudder at the position.

so still not sure what the "rudder trimmer" checkbox does

Make sure that you also check (in specials page) the center rudder option.

Then when you set your trimmer, release the stick for a second and it will hold all three axis settings.

You must release the stick every time you make an adjustment. Twist until the side slip indicator is in the center, press the trim button and release your grip.

BTW, twist stick for rudder is not recommended for helicopters. It is not sensitive enough for fine adjustments, plus

it is too easy to accidentally twist your wrist while making pitch and roll changes.

It is much better to map your rudder to a separate controller such as pedals or (like I use because I am handicapped) the rocker/slider on the throttle.
