Hey everyone,

I'd like to point out a problem that is bugging me for some time now - and it's almost universal in every module.

It's not really a bug - more of a case of "good intention, bad execution", and that is canopy scratches.

I think the (light-)effects of canopy scratches - especially with deep standing sun - are way too overdone. The problem in my opinion is kind of the same as it is with some baked in canopy reflections. Even if they are real, there is one thing that works completely different in real life and that's the focus of your vision. IRL you would focus into distance and even if the canopy was scratched to the extend that is represented in game, you would kind of "look through" it. In game - especially in 2D of course - everything on screen has the same distance and is in focus at once.

So this is a thing, that simply can't be simulated to perfection on a 2D screen. Therefore a work around is needed. For me that would be to simply tune it down by at least 50%. Both the quantity of scratches (I think this is a modeled by the developer of the module), and the light reflection/breaking from them (I think this is a matter of the game engine).

I hope that I'm not alone with that and that it will be considered.

Fly safe!

Edit: Another hope would be, that somebody of the very talented people out there can make a mod or give advice to tune the scratches down by yourself....
