Thinder Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Improvements in view for the M88 engine The Rafale jet engine will benefit from the works carried out on the engine of tomorrow’s fighter jets. It was in this regard that France’s defense procurement agency entrusted Safran with an upstream research program, worth 115 million euros over five years to boost the engine’s thrust while improving its lifespan. SUBS17 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 The Rafale flies extremely well with Super Hornet Engines. I highly recommend it. Also Mig29s, Grippen and SU35S also fly really good with Super Hornet Engines. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Thinder Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 (edited) Rafale never flew with Super Hornet engines, the prototype Rafale A flew with one General Electric F404-GE-400 but this engine is already larger than M-88, there is no chance for a Rafale to fly with the Super Hornet F414-GE-400. If SAFRAN come up with a new version of M-88 based on the technologies they are developing now for SCAF, it will probably be even more advanced than bot GE engines. There is video of a Rafale flying in High Alpha. It is using Super Hornet engines. There is also video of Su35S flying High Alpha, those are Super Hornet engines inside. The Super Hornet engine is very good for High alpha. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

No it doesn't The Super Hornet engine is too large to be fitted on the Rafale airframe, the legacy Hornet engine is already larger than the M-88, get your facts right. Something else, during high Alpha tests, Rafale reached 100° AoA and 40 Kt negative speed, M-88 is just as good than F414-GE-400 at high Alpha. Edited January 19, 2022 by Thinder Win 11Pro. SUBS17 Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Someone has been testing those aircraft with those engines. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
F-2 Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Rafale A is actually larger then the production Rafale in part so it can fit the F404 engine.
