I know ED is working on AI improvements, but I just felt like providing another reminder of a specific AI behavior that bothers me, which is its superhuman ability to keep track of targets in WVR or near WVR.

A somewhat common situation I see in DCS when I get into the 5-10 mile range with the AI is this:

I exchange a MRM with the AI, this forces both of us to break and try to notch, so both of us lose radar contact with each other while also being a bit far for visual contact. Both of us successfully notch missiles and then turn to re-engage, but the AI somehow knows exactly where I am and so as soon as it has its nose pointed at me it fires an Archer/Sidewinder/Magic/ etc.

This shouldn't happen, the AI should be searching for me (or possibly trying to run away since it can't be sure where I am - I would try this more often if it didn't end up with the AI being on my tail 90% of the time, the AI's overly powerful SA forces the player to act in certain ways too), just as I have to search for it because it was forced to break radar lock. Please consider this situation and similar situations when tweaking the AI in the future. It's one area where it really strays too much from human limitations to be believable.

Thanks to anyone from ED who reads this and for the continued work put into the sim.

It's absolutely possible for the AI to lose track of you if you just break and run, especially if you dive into a valley or other obstruction. Had it happen multiple times, in particular recently a MiG-29 chasing me, I dove for the deck and started weaving, after a minute I realised he was gone and found him 20 miles away heading back to his last waypoint.

I'll have to try it more often then. My previous experience has just been that you get into long chase with the AI pointing directly at you the entire time. The instances where it has happened have been over more open space like oceans or plains, so that could play a part in the outcome.

I know that the current AI isn't 100% infallible, but I think in a lot of cases it's a bit too good at finding other aircraft.
