StrongHarm Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 I started creating missions when KA-50 was the only module. I used the Nav Target tab on each helo to create target points. These were not navigation points within the flight plan. I could select NAVTGT+N on the PVI for target location reference and even slew sensors directly to those points. When A-10 came out I didn't have NAVTGT, so I started using the Initial Point objects in the ME to simulate data tape uploaded Pre-Planned Target Points, so my Navigation Flight Plan waypoints wouldn't be cluttered. I could switch to MISSION instead of FLT PLAN on the CDU or UFC, and if I went past the flight plan waypoints, I could see my Initial Points, by name designation, and use them the same way I did NAVTGT on the KA-50... for weapons employment... PPTPs. I've not found a way to reference ME inserted Initial Points while in the Hornet. Has there been any talk of a plan to create a common PPTP interface in the ME so all capable aircraft can configure/consume them, or will we continue to use navigation waypoints as PPTPs? It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Tholozor Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 (edited) Will probably come with the data cartridge system. The Hornet should be capable of holding up to 200 GPS waypoints (NATOPS section 24.2.5.1.1) that can be transferred into the Mission Computer and used as regular waypoints. Mikaa Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Let's hope so. I haven't heard anything regarding us having the XFER from GPS database function and found my way to this post, but it would be a welcome addition to the Mission planning and diversions. Fingers crossed.
