Sparc
Hello pilots. I'm concerned whether I should be playing on beta or the stable version. I have both installed. I just purchased the Normandy map and ww2 assets. Has normandy been optimized for performance? If so, does this mean I should be playing on the beta version? Art-J
Maps performance between Stable and OB can be different only if last OB brings some major graphics engine changes which affect the game in general, or when it brings some major update to the map itself. That's not the case in DCS right now, so which build you're going to install Normandy on is irrelevant. The question should be - how Normandy compares performance-wise to other maps. In short - it's somewhat worse than Caucasus and Nevada, but it's better than all remaining ones. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10. Johnny Johnny Johnny
I used to be on stable for a long time but switched over a year ago to beta, if you want all the updates in a timely manner, go beta, with the risk of some bugs and issues that usually gets resolved in a week or two, but in general, I have not regret going open beta at all, takes too long between stable updates in my opinion.
