SUHANG Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) Hi guys, did you encounter this nav alignment problem? Once you landed on the airfield or the carrier, shut down the engine for refueling and rearming, then you cold start up, but the nav alignment just cannot start. The normal procedure is to switch to CV or Ground on the INS Mode Selector. But after I did it, on the HSI, the TIME flashing on 0 and showing NO ATT, simply didn't start the alignment as normal.(as shown in my attachement). The right DDI shows INS ATT, INS DEGO. On the lower DDI, the time flashing on 0:00. And if the alignment is not ok, the GPS weapons can't be used, the HSI position info would not be correct. Anyone has this problem? Plus, after landing, shut down engine and restart, the FCS test can't go well. As shown in the attached pic, the right DDI, FCS first shows intest, than shown restart. Just don't show go. SUHANG Posted February 14, 2022 Author Posted February 14, 2022 OK, I solved this out. The alignment would not start only after I properly set the emergency parking handle. After I have made the emergency handle vertical and pull it out, which is really set it up properly as the printed beside the handle on the panel, the alignment started, and the FCS bit would be OK. So I just wondering whether in the real world, the FA18 is set like this?
Foka Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Yes, it is. It's not "emergency parking handle", but simply "brake handle" and depends on its position it acts as parking break or emergency break. As always I'd suggest reffering to plane manual - pages 68 and 69.
