Zoom view problem

When I sit inside AH-64D I get this view:

 

then if I touch zoom axis the view stays zoomed in, and the axis is returned to its starting position,

Here is the zoomed in view after using zoom axis:

It stays zoomed like this,

 

 

I have the axis checked and it works fine. Noticed this behaviour on FC3 planes too.

Can this be addressed?

That's not a bug in my opinion.

I use X55's upper rotary of the throttle for zooming, and this is my settings to catch the first image you shared:
