taikoJH Posted March 26, 2022 Posted March 26, 2022 Hi people! New user here. So, I'm playing DCS in VR and non-VR in parallel. I understand you can start DCS with parameters like G:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR to, well... enforce VR mode. This is how I do it and it works like a charm. But obviously, playing without VR enables you to ramp up graphic settings. Right now you can just use the presets in the graphic settings and you can even store custom presets. That's neat. Still it requires you to restart DCS to enable the settings. Here's my question. Is there a way to start DCS with some kind of indiviual settings that are applied on start-up? Like: startup-script 1 -> Starting DCS with dumbed down VR-settings startup-script 2 -> Starting DCS with full blown high-quality gfx settings Maybe launching some kind lua-file with the settings, attached to the DCS.exe?
taikoJH Posted March 28, 2022 Author Posted March 28, 2022 That works for me! Thanks for pointing out. But, wow, what a convoluted tool that is! 1

angrysilverbeard Posted April 6, 2022 Posted April 6, 2022 I think one thing I'd like to see is an option in the VR menu to be able to select or deselect something like an "Always start in VR" check box in the settings. With it checked it starts in VR, if not checked starts with a main menu button that becomes active to start VR on your own. I know for me personally right now I'm still tinkering with a lot of settings and binding my hotas, and forgetting to turn of the VR option just to do a quick check on some new controls, or trying something from a tutorial in a quick 2D flight kind of makes it a pain to have to get the HMD out and on enough to turn off the HMD, just for a 5 min thing. Just my $.02 though

Find DCS shortcut on your desktop and rename it to "DCS VR" 2. Copy the shorcut file on your desktop and rename the new one to "DCS 2D" 3. Right mouse click on the DCS 2D shortcut, choose properties, edit the shorcut adding " --force_disable_VR" (without quotes) at the end so it looks similar to: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" --force_disable_VR 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

I'll have to see if I can not screw it up when I get off work lol it's been a long silly night already so who knows how it'll end up. But thanks for that though. It'll definitely come in handy Edit: Just got home and tried it. Didn't seem to want to take. Keep getting "unknown command error" I'll keep at it for a bit Edited April 6, 2022 by angrysilverbeard
