Snakey86 Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 (edited) I have a Lenovo Legion 5 with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3070 130w GPU and 32gb of ram. I've been using it to fly in VR when on work trips and it has given me 40-45 fps on Syria free flight in F-16 and and 55fps at 20k+ feet. Of course with every setting on max in DCS and pixel density on 1.4 and 1.0 in debug tool and ASW off. Now after latest DCS update in open beta with the apache release, fps has dropped from 45fps to 4-7fps on same settings and DCS feels like a slideshow. What have happened to DCS coding? Only on legion 5 laptops. And also 2 friends with the same identical legion 5 laptops have the same happened there also. Identical issues. We thought I had to do with a Nvidia drivers, but one had not installed or touched any drivers and was still on the old good working drivers. But it still was dropped from 45 to 5fps, so it hasn't been a problem with the Nvidia driver. On my desktop and my friends desktop PC's, there's no differences and we have everything on max and 1,5+ in pixel density, and 45 to 60fps constant, so it seems to be only affecting Nvidia laptops Edited March 28, 2022 by Snakey86 Added info about desktop PC's AMD 5800X3D, Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360, Nvidia RTX 4090, Gigabyte B550 Aourus Pro V2, 64GB G.Skill Trident Z-Neo DDR4 3600MHz, 1x1TB WD Black SN850, 1x2TB WD Black SN850, Varjo Aero http://www.dcsnorway.no / http://www.dcsnorge.no https://discord.gg/dcsnorge
Flappie Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Nothing bad happened to DCS coding, otherwise this forum would be on fire. Maybe the three of you received a Lenovo software update that messed with the PC performance. I'm thinking about a storage driver, or some master control software. What you can try is disabling unuseful services using the Task manager Services tab. 2 ---
ddc196 Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 I use a Rift S and overall I think the performance actually got better after this last update. I don't ever check my FPS or anything else when it comes to performance, I just go off how it "feels." And to me, it "feels" better. I know, very scientific! Snakey86 Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 Yeah, I have the same prossessor, same watercooled GPU and as much memory as you, but 3600mhz memory on my gaming desktop PC, and that one is running beautifully, it's my gaming laptop that has problems AMD 5800X3D, Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360, Nvidia RTX 4090, Gigabyte B550 Aourus Pro V2, 64GB G.Skill Trident Z-Neo DDR4 3600MHz, 1x1TB WD Black SN850, 1x2TB WD Black SN850, Varjo Aero http://www.dcsnorway.no / http://www.dcsnorge.no https://discord.gg/dcsnorge
RPY Variable Posted March 31, 2022 Posted March 31, 2022 If by any chance you are using fpsVR app from steam (the one that gives you some preformance data in VR), try not using it. I'm on a 3070 Aorus 15p and that app destroys my performance. A friend use the same app in his desktop without a problem. p3t3rmax Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 I have the exact same laptop and it's fine, just about all maxed out. I use the latest Nvidia drivers. I ugraded to Windows 11 in the meantime and it seems a tad quicker but no worse. It's great for FS2020 as well. Try to remove all the Lenovo bloatware although mine is out of the box, reinstall if not resolved, upgrade to Win 11 as that would be like a reinstall, etc. I love the laptop.
