HWasp Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Controlling radar elevation is one of the most basic functions, that is extremely important in any complex scenario. Quick and efficient radar control is one of the most important things, that often decides in the end, who wins the fight. It's been a very long time since release, and there is still no option to bind Jester radar elevation commands, to control the radar quickly and efficiently. I'm wondering, why is there still no option for this? Is there a game limitation? With any other single pilot module, it usually takes me 2-3 seconds to pick up new contact called out by GCI at some random direction and altitude. By comparison trying to control Jester to have the radar look where I want it takes forever, going through all those layers of that damned menu. Please, introduce a system, to control the radar more efficiently! One idea: Keybind to jump +/- 5000 feet elevation at the currently selected range Is there any limitation, why such a thing cannot be implemented? How is it going to work with the upcoming F-4? 1
draconus Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 (edited) If you want full quick radar control go to RIO seat. Binding it for a pilot is not realistic. Edited March 29, 2022 by draconus Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Why is it not realistic to bind a Jester command to move the elevation by a given amount? Commands to set range and move scan zone left or right can already be binded. Why is this different? This is a very very basic thing and it is extremely annoying to go through all those jester menu layers all the time. 1

Oh no, any binding to Jester menu is fine and HB already said it will be done towards the end of EA. I meant that direct pilot inputs as reach back functionality are unrealistic. Zaphael Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 VoiceAttack VAICOM Pro can help you get Jester to set the elevation via some voice commands. First you got to set the TID range scale correctly. Then you can tell Jester to scan high, low, very low etc. Alternatively, you can use the scan sector command. E.G. Scan sector Angels 15 for Two Zero. Jester will adjust the radar scan volume to look for targets around 15000ft, about twenty miles away. Jester will set a more useful antenna elevation angle this way. 1

Thanks, I'm sure that is useful, and works well, but I personally don't really want to get 3rd party tools involved, just make a really basic Jester function work properly.
HWasp Posted April 1, 2022 Author Posted April 1, 2022 The way I think this could work well: Use the existing scan elevation at selected distance Jester menu and create a bindable command to change the selected setting +/-5000 feet (basically toggle between the existing menu settings) The current Jester menus are ok to set up the radar initially, but as the fight gets closer, it gets way too slow (and annoying)
