SteamVR crashing 3090 using 23.8 gb

Having issues with SVR pausing stuttering and crashing when I had fpsvr running I noticed it’s very unstable and freezes when my 3090 jumps to 23 gb … yikes anybody know what’s causing this? Never had any issues , first time my VR/G2 having issues.

Recently Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR has been updated with some internal changes to improve performance. It's been on the beta branch for a while, but now they pushed it into stable. 

• Reworks how graphics buffers are shared with SteamVR, reducing overall GPU memory utilization in most cases

However, this update seems to crash DCS when it runs out of VRAM. 

Best way for now I think is to downgrade WMR for SteamVR: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsMR/comments/tz5clr/how_to_downgrade_your_windows_mixed_reality_for/

Or try the OpenXR mod for DCS.

I using the regular WMR4S does that matter?

Yes, just switch to lkg_release as instructed in the link, that should help.

like I have the same problem as (Burt)
I did the manipulation you explained in Downgrade
I selected ( lkg_realise ) and it still didn't work I selected (beta-public beta ) and it still doesn't work,
question should we reinstall wmr after making these changes in steam??

I have a G2 reverb and steamvr beta 1.22.5 last update and when I launch dcs open beta or stable steam vr crashes and I have to give up (disappointing) and from time to time dcs starts after 2 minutes the jerky game freezes and I get a black screen.

Use lkg-release, beta will not work. Reinstall is not required, just restart WMR.

I have done several tests and it works perfectly for the moment thanks to you.

Over 3 hours of Multiplayer server and everything is smooth and silky. 3090 vram maxed out at around 13-16 and that’s about right.
