Donglr Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 (edited) Hi all, when watching Wags's video on the hellfires I was under the assumption that you need a target/waypoint as an acquisition source before you can fire the the missile can find its general area where to look at for the laser. Now I saw this trainign video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP2-zQf3dD4 (sorry, German!) where the guy does not use a target/wayoint, but simply hovers behind a hill, point the aircraft in the general direction of the target, fires and hits. So I wonder why would you make a target/waypoint and use it as ACQ, if all it takes for a buddy lasing kill is having a JTAC lasing and just point in the general direction when firing(within range, of course)? EDIT: wrong link Edited April 24, 2022 by Donglr
Kang Posted April 24, 2022 Posted April 24, 2022 Well, you need something to shoot at. You can create such a point on the fly by lasing and storing a point, so you don't have to fiddle with coordinates if you don't want to.
Donglr Posted April 24, 2022 Author Posted April 24, 2022 This is a wonderful post that makes quite a lot of things clearer!
