Thanks for the response! In that case, you may want to take a look at this article if you are in the market for a decent mid-level card:

Take a look at what the suggest for a good mid-range card if you are a corei7 owner. :)

By the way, sharkeyextreme has a review on the NZXT Temptest case that I ordered. It is a pretty interesting read:

Thanks for the link!

I just bought a Evga GTX 280 SSC, so I will see how that goes. Depending on reviews for the GTX 295, I might use the step-up program and order a few of those for SLI. I will see what the new year brings and go from there. The GTX 280 should be fine now for my purposes. :)

The NZXT is a good case. The styling is nice too. I went with the Antec 1200 because of the airflow (it's like a freakin' wind tunnel! lol).

Let me know how SLI works out. From what I understand, this game is pretty CPU dependent if your video card is pretty new.

And update: All my stuff is sitting in Salt Lake City now. Half is suppose to arrive on the 23rd, the rest next monday.

A correction to my post above, I am running at 16xFSAA and 16xAF. I said 4xFSAA, sorry about that.

Are you setting that in-game or in the video card control panel?

Control panel.

I got my 30 inch Dell panel today and I set it at it's native resolution of 2560x1600 with 16xFSAA and 16xAF. So far it appears I do not lose any fps by running at this resolution. lol

Ark,

I will be building my new machine this weekend. What types of temperatures were you seeing on the Corei7 with the stock CPU fan...non overclocked?

That's a good question. I never much paid attention to the stock temps. IIRC, it idled somewhere in the 20's. Now, I believe 2 cores idle in the low 30's and 2 in the high 20's. Not bad for a 1+ ghz overclock. lol

During load I beleive my machine currently runs at at low-mid 60's. Core i7s run quite hot, but heat has never been a issue.

Hi All,

My new corei7 box is built and I am very impressed with this processor! I can run the game at 1680X1050 with everything on high except water(normal) with 8x AA and 8x AF and the game has been smooth as butter in multiplayer. I am waiting on the 159nth to run the weapons range map. That map with a lot of players would kill my laptop.

Anyways, I do have some pictures and I will post them later this evening when I get a moment.

man! you guys a re zoomin way out in front of mere mortals. I see running water on high is still a killer though. I hope that will be addressed in the new DCS engine of the future. Don't forget to post some benchmarks for Black Shark!

Hey, Alphainfinity, it's interesting to read your post because I just ordered a very similar rig:

Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe

CPU: Core I7-920

RAM: 6gb DDR3 XMS3 1333Mhz

Graphics card: XFX Geforce 9800GTX+ "XXX"

HDD: 1TB

PSU: Corsair 850W

Cabinet: Antec 1200

Monitor: BenQ 24inch 1920x1080 HD, 2ms

In other words, small differences.

I think it's going to be great :) And reading your reports on the performance in 1920x1080, I'm really looking forward to it.

I figured it was time to say goodbye to my five year old rig (P4 3Ghz, 22inch CRT, Geforce 7800GS (AGP!!), 2GB DDR). I'm thinking about a burial at sea ;)
