Loz Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 (edited) First of all great sim, really looking forward to getting to grips with it. My Nvidia Control panel (180.48 drivers) is set to SLI with the side indicators ON. The game is set as default to Nvidia SLI, but in game the indicators are not showing at all. Making me think that this is not working with SLI...?? Secondly, I can't get my simple Saitek Cyborg Joystick to work in game, ever since I tried to change the Axis control sliders. (it did work previously) It now is showing as OK in windows control panel, the two buttons I changed using the Saitek editor to T and LAlt T (for Trim and Auto Hover) work in game but no control movement. Any help much appreciated guys. Loz Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 Further to this I've found that the Joystick problem above is only happening in Simulation and not Game mode. By default, in game mode, my Saitek Cyborg is recognised and works as expected. So what have I done wrong, in Sim mode for it not to work?? i9 9900x at 5.1 Ghz // ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula EK Bloc // 64Gb Corsair Vengence 3600Mhz DDR4 Ram // Gigabyte Aorus 3090 Watercooled block//Samsung SM951 M2 x4 SSD // Windows 10 64 Bit //48inch LG48 @ 3840x2160 120Hz//Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ 3440 x 14440 144Hz // TM Warthog HOTAS (Ser. Making me think that this is not working with SLI...?? I'm not expert on this and you can take this advice with a grain of salt ... but you should stay away from the 180-version drivers. Though there is a certified version on the NVidia site ... it's still bugged. I, myself, reverted back to the 178-series and have nothing but smooth sailing ... with SLI. . - - - - - - - - TO FLY IS HEAVEN. TO HOVER IS DIVINE - - - - - - [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slayer Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 There are seperate control configurations for simulation and for game mode, you have to setup you axis seperately for each. I'm using 180.48 also. Since there is no profile for the game yet in the nvidia drivers you need to add one. Point it toward dcs.exe. In the profile set it to use AA{ there is no setting in the game so you must set it here} Also set it to use AFR in the SLI mode box. THis is how it is on my machine. BakaNi Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 There is no nVidia profile for DCS - Black Shark, by default SLi won't be used. Creating one for blackshark is pretty pointless as all you'll achieve is graphics corruption and probably worse performance. Even at 2560x1600 with 16x AA, one card out performed two. The game seems to be incredibly cpu limited, you'd have to be using two very poor graphics cards for sli to make any difference. This is one to be left to the nvidia driver team, if they care, they might beable to pull something out of the hat.

SLI does make a difference if you are using AA. Even if you don't get a framrate boost from it it will alllow you to operate at much higher resolutions with AA and no performance hit. If your using a 19" monitor SLI is pointless in any game or sim... BakaNi Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 No corruption here at all. Interesting, details please. I experience corruption using both AFR and AFR with compatibility tweaks, on vista 64 with the latest nvidia WHQLs 180.48. SLI does make a difference if you are using AA. Even if you don't get a framrate boost from it it will alllow you to operate at much higher resolutions with AA and no performance hit. In my testing, sli produces nothing but a net loss in fps, no matter the resolution or anti-aliasing. Assuming it does work for some people, then fantastic, but you've got to be running a pretty weak graphics card for it to be the limiting factor in black shark. The game is so badly cpu limited that even at very low resolutions and all the graphics turned to low, on a modern overclocked c2d, you can end up with ~ 10fps As a reference, on my rig, (E2180@3200, GT8800, 2Gb ram) on low setting, 1024x768 resolution, the frame rate goes down to 10fps in this mission when the Artillery starts rocking. This makes the mission virtually unplayable. the average when starting the mission is 20-25fps. Could you run a little test for me? Run the first black shark tutorial mission, where the camera pans in and out the cockpit and outside and benchmark it and then turn off sli and do the same. Maybe we can find out where sli works and where it doesn't, your system specs and ingame settings would help also :)
Loz Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for the help above. Slayer - it was strange that the DCS.exe was showing in the Nvidia Control panel, so I assumed it would apply the default SLI settings but as you said, nothing was showing (SLI sidebar indications) till I actually assigned a profile. But I have to agree with Baka, that the framerate is far higher without SLI selected!! Yet another case of a Sim / game implemented without SLI support. My other problem re the Joystick not working was solved by a new installation and I shall be far more careful with changing .lua files in future. i9 9900x at 5.1 Ghz // ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula EK Bloc // 64Gb Corsair Vengence 3600Mhz DDR4 Ram // Gigabyte Aorus 3090 Watercooled block//Samsung SM951 M2 x4 SSD // Windows 10 64 Bit //48inch LG48 @ 3840x2160 120Hz//Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ 3440 x 14440 144Hz // TM Warthog HOTAS (Ser.
