Stingray Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Just as there is no easy answer about why the Ka-50 is the way it is, there is no easy answer about why ED chose to model it. Yo, seems like a pretty reasonable choice for a combat attack helicopter, as most of the alternatives have two pilots.. that would make some trouble in deciding how to model the controls realistically, Stingray
EvilBivol-1 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Yes. I didn't say there was no good answer, only that there is no easy answer. ;) Meaning, there are actually a few reasons and any/all of them may have factored in the equation. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Slayer Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 The Ka-50 is gritty, fun and challenging all rolled into one.....I could care less if it's the latest and greatest airframe. It has just enough of an electronics suite to make this a great single seat sim. Theres lots to learn for study sim guys, theres stuff for squads and teamplay...something for everyone. It is a refreshing idea away from the standard:turn on radar, lock target, fire...rinse repeat...That gets old fast. This thing takes skill and time to get good at so I doubt it will go up on the shelf very soon for me (Like so many of the older cookie cutter sims of the 90's) IMO it's a great choice to model and was a great idea to put the arcade mode in so people can still jump in and play and have fun without dumming it down for everyone like an Xbox. theox Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I love the Ka-50. Its like being a pack of wolves on the battlefield. Attack and slink back into the lair, never touched, fading into the dusk as the fires of slain vehicles reach into the burning sky.
schmeeling Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Have to agree with Slayer - this is a great choice of platform for packing in what seems an overwhelming workload, but one which you know one guy must be able to handle IRL. Actually he said it better.... Cheers
Obiwan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 As far as future models is concerned, there should be plenty of information on the MI-24 available. The Nemeth brothers got good info together for their Hind for FS2004 (which rocks). I would assume that ED would get similar support from Mil or an operator of the MI-24.
EvilBivol-1 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 (edited) The question is, will ED have a military contract for one? If not, then whatever military contract they do have (if any) will trump it. Edited January 4, 2009 by EvilBivol-1 - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Slayer Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The question is, will ED have a military contract for one? If not, than whatever military contract they do have (if any) will trump it. Well then ....It's easy...if you want more contracts start mailing out copys of DCS to people who make these contracts. A few shameless plugs of ones own product never hurt anything.
