I have finally figured out how to add 3D scenery from Google Earth to DCS. Its still rough around the edges but works. No drop in frame rates yet. The only problem is when yo fly really close to a skyscraper and the collision model calculations kick in almost crashes the game. I have a fix for that and will test it out.

For the most part the scenery looks very good, some models exported are low quality, Paris France. So anywhere on Google Earth where the 3D models are available, can be imported to DCS. These can be individual buildings to city blocks. This would be great for adding new buildings to the static objects library, or building entire cities in the blank areas of the DCS maps. Flat areas are required for city block sized models.

I would like to model more scenery for the static objects. I have been modeling buildings and plants for Architects and Engineers for years. I however have little to no experience with coding and creating the LUA files necessary to make the model s work in the game correctly. So that is the reeason for this post. I need help, I have gone as far as I can go. Currently I am using a very basic template for what you see here but I cannot code damage models, textures or control the amount of damage it takes to switch to the damage model. Is there a way to control explosion size, smoke, fire size and duration?

I also have some non Google models I want to publish as well.

Any Blender users out there? I have problem when deleting clutter from the Google models. When trimming geometry or deleting Clutter the model will not export to the EDM file. The error message is that the model is not a Mesh or a Quad and cannot be exported. Any ideas how to convert the model back to a mesh? This is key to isolating individual buildings.

very nice idea, the ground graphics of dcs are pretty "pizza" looking, most buildings are wrong also on Airports or Airfields/bases. I whish they would do it like MSFS2020 where we can edit the scenery, and 3rd party developers could also sell airports, airbases and all that, only wishfull thinking I guess.. keep it up

let me post a basic lua script here for a basic building, static object. About fire and duration i don't know much. Collision model, you need to create a simple second mesh (3DS Max) and type in a simple line "Collision Shell" if you use 3DS max, i can show you what you need to do.

Very interesting project, how is it going? Anything new you can report on progress? I would definitely be interested in testing it.
