Angel1 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Hi all, Im just wondering if anyone else is getting a frame rate drop when using trackir, im getting a 10-15fps drop with TIR4 which sometimes doesnt sound alot but when i dissable it the performance boost can be significant. Im running TIR with latest software and game updates but like i said im just wondering if anyone else is having a simular issue. Sorry if this has been posted about else where but i couldnt find anything by doing a search. kindest regards steve
NaturalPoint_Vince Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile? Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software? Have you made any changes to the system recently? Angel1 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 Thanks so much for the reply vince and to answer your question my profile size's are basically the default ones Default:5kb Combat Flight: 4kb Flight: 4kb Racing: 2kb I am running anitvirus which is Nod32 and ZoneAlarm as my firewall, there has'nt been any system change's at all and have been testing it with Armed Assualt and LOMAC which are the other two games i use TIR with but no loss in frame rate at all between on/off steve.
NaturalPoint_Vince Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Might be a little corruption in the 5KB file, as anything over 4KB is odd. What version of Windows? Could try a clean install of TrackIR - Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following: a. Click "Start" b. Click on the "Control Panel" c. Click "Add/Remove Programs" d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove" e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it. f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location, http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06-support/support-download-software-and-manuals.html Support@NaturalPoint.com TrackIR - Put your head in the game http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/index.html
Angel1 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 To tell the truth im using the "combat flight" profile for black shark and not the default (dont know if that makes a difference). Im wondering could the default profile be bigger because i have changed it a little (just running ideas around)
Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Might be a little corruption in the 5KB file, as anything over 4KB is odd. My default profile is 5KB also. Is it really odd that it's bigger than 4KB? I don't seem to have any framerate issues due to TIR.
NaturalPoint_Vince Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Anything above 4KB should be watched. It is a possability, could also look at your firewall/antivirus software applications, and make sure they have TrackIR set as an exception; not sure why it would be isolated to one application only........ Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 Anything above 4KB should be watched. Vince, can you be a bit more specific? Why is 5KB bad? Why does anything above 4KB need to "be watched"?
Angel1 Posted December 26, 2008 Author Posted December 26, 2008 Hi again, Ok ive reinstalled and my default profile is back to 4kb but it has'nt made any difference with the loose in frame rate. The only thing i can possibly liken it to is using Fraps (like hitting the record button). I have also had a go at changing a few graphic setting in my nvidia control panel but no joy either (probably a long shot). Its very odd that BS is the only thing effected by this and im suprised that no one else seems to have this issue aswell.

It does seem like this, i have tried everything i can think of but never heard of anything think this before with trackir. Many thanks for suggestions will have to keep looking around. steve
Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Thanks for the clarification Vince. Although I'm not having any issues, I went ahead and uninstalled and reinstalled TrackIR and now the default it 4KB. Everything still working as normal. :)
