Going with the P-51D external model re-work, would it be possible please to introduce a D-5 tail? This is the non-fillet tail that was seen on P-51D's from June 1944 until the arrival of the D-10's later in the fall.  Much of the action over Normandy and the breakout from the beaches would have been done with the earlier P-51's.

I know it's probably not super simple, but it seems what would be needed is a new 3d model for the tail (ala the wingtips on the Spitfire) and a FM revision reducing the lateral stability due to reduced side space (no fillet).  Likewise you would see the gunsight in the cockpit be replaced from the K14 gyro site to a fixed (n9? I think?) gunsight.

Late D models had metal elevator and changed angle of incidence of H-stabilizator, this change was introduced to fight off very nasty high speed problem of P-51 so early P-51D would require changes in FM. I would be so happy that ED would develop P-51 B/C or early D, i would be happy to pay for this.

Still pulling for a B/C model, of course with Malcolm Hood. And the Razorback Jug...........................  And a P-38 with boosted ailerons.

Good idea. Could get interesting modelling the D-5's habit of the fin tearing off during snap rolls, though.

A P-51B/C would be the best for historical scenarios based on the Normandy map. Maybe in the same way as we have the Fw190A and D, two separate but closely related modules.
