Laurreth Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 I have a mission just flying out of Incirlik (Syria map) with control on 360.100 AM. When I set COMM 1 to that frequency and modulation and then use either the quick comms menu or the specific COMM 1 radio binding on the throttle, radio options are still greyed out, and when I select one, COMM 2 automatically switches to M and tunes 360.100 AM. Most of the time I then see activity on both radios when talking to ATC. Am I doing something wrong? Is it an issue with the Hornet module, that specific ATC, the map, or DCS in general?
Solution pokeraccio Posted July 1, 2022 Solution Posted July 1, 2022 You have easy comms option ON Try to turn it off in OPTION -> GAMEPLAY from DCS Manual: Easy Communication. With Easy Communication on, the radios will automatically tune to the selected recipient's frequency. In addition, the radio menu will only display objects present in the mission and highlight those with whom contact is possible. With Easy Communication off, the player has to tune the correct radio set to the correct frequency for the desired contact and select the correct contact out of the full radio contacts menu. 1 Pokeraccio Forum: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Spitfire LF Mk.IX QRH / Checklist / Pilot's Note Kneeboard by Pokeraccio
Laurreth Posted July 1, 2022 Author Posted July 1, 2022 Ah thanks, that helps. Seems like Easy Comms is a bit inconsistent then, sometimes it picks up tuned radios, other times it doesn't. (Maybe it's something to do with approach/tower/ground selection for ATC?) 1

I never use easy comms. it's a different comms management, but it works afaik. you can forget to tune comm 1 manually, everything will be handled by the comms menu when you select the agency or recipient you want to communicate to, if you have the radio set on the correct freq the option menu will be white, otherwise will be grayout and selecting it will switch the radio on the correct freq for you and start the comm.
