Nivron
I want to start off by saying a massive thank you to Brian Franklin over at Simshed for allowing me to port his Nimrod from FSX. I have been tinkering with this for DCS for the better part of a year, I grew up with this aircraft and it's one of my all time favourites. Now I must state that it is only the base model of the Nimrod MR2 that I was able to use. The model cleanup; (removing the external stairs and cowlings) and animations were completed by myself. Now, this is where I hit a brick wall as I have very little experience with model unwrapping, texturing and implementing everything into DCS inside a clean standalone mod. Below is my first implementation into DCS. Youtube Proof of Concept: Comments about this video: 1) This is an old build of the model where it has some scale issues (It's tiny and about 1/10th the size it should be though this is fixed on a later build). 2) As you can tell, this is only placed on the VSN Typhoon mod as a placeholder and as I say, proof of concept 3) As said previously, I have little experience with texturing which is why there's that missing texture error everywhere and why some parts only have textures on one face Current Plans: Unwrap and Texture Add a flight model such as the E-3's but tweak it ever so slightly Add sound effects Add Weapon Loadouts (AGM-84, AGM-65 and of course, the AIM-9L Sidewinder in a dual mount) I'd love for feedback, support or help in anyway. Feel free to contact me via email: nimrodprojectdcs@gmail.com and when I've created a discord server for the project, I'll amend this post to include that as well 8

joey45
Awesome. Any updates. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. flyingscotsman
I agree with Joey45, I had a few trips in Nimrods, even got to 'drive' once, (To stop me being airsick....it worked!) I too loved the FSX Nimrod, best wishes for this MOD.

Nivron
So an update to the progress of the Nimrod, It has progressed decently although I have hit a brick wall in my abilities. The aircraft is in and full scale this time, animations are complete, extra details such as engine exhaust and such has been added and weapons have been added. Weapons: 2x AIM-9M AGM-84 Harpoon BL755 BOZ Pod Torpedo MK-82 (Stand in for Iron Bombs) Here is the limit of my knowledge, I do not currently know how to UV unwrap and texture so currently that area of the Nimrod still needs work however for an AI, it is near complete. Here are a few images of the latest progress
joey45
What software are you using to model? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
