TrackIR Forcefully Disabled in Cockpit View (Against My Will)

Hello all!

I wasn't quite sure where to ask this, it's my first time with an issue like this. I was unable to install the game for a few weeks, but I found a temporary workaround for that, only to, a few days later, graze what I assume to have been either the Num. key or the Num0 key and that has changed my view to that snap or padlock view by default, and every time I go back to cockpit view, it defaults to that strange off center view, with TrackIR unresponsive. I have tried EVERY key combination, including remapping all the snap view and padlock controls in game to other inputs on several other devices and the keyboard. I have tried editing and removing or using defaults for the Config/View/ files. Looking this up I find people having similar but not quite exactly the same issues given that I'm using TrackIR. Kind of super bummed this came out of nowhere and now I'm unable to disable it. TrackIR works fine in 3rd person and when beginning flight info screen is up before clicking Fly! but then snaps to that default view. I can occasionally change the default padlock or snap view it defaults to, but it will still just default to that view. Anyone have ANY idea how I can disable this "feature" without having to reinstall as I had such big problems with that, as it's preventing me from being able to play at all? Any help would be incredibly appreciated.

Best,

- David

Thanks for the reply, I have indeed tried that. I have even tried using the default one copied over from the install folder. I do pause TrackIR and RAlt+Num0 only sometimes saves the current padlock view. It does NOT disable it for me ever tho or re-enable TrackIR. I have tried rebinding that event, RAlt + Num0 to other keys on the keyboard and to other bindings on several other devices to no avail. I cannot get out of that view mode it seems.

- David

Since you had a difficult time installing the sim for some reason, it may be that something didn’t install correctly. Have you tried running a slow repair?

I probably misunderstand. Why would you ever save a padlock view?

DO NOT EVER hit RAlt + Num0, UNLESS you WANT to save that view. DO NOT MAP IT TO ANYTHING!!!
I can see why you're in trouble.
Not sure why deleting the file didn't help though. Sure you deleted the correct one?

See screenshot below.

To change FOV use
RCtrl + RShft + Num2 and Num8 for Y axis (up/down)
RCtrl + RShft + Num4 and Num6 for X axis (left/right)
RCtrl + RShft + Num/ and Num- for Z axis (Zoom)
RAlt + Num0 to save

For other snapviews save with RAlt + NumX.
As you can see. DO NOT EVER bind RAlt + any numpad key. It will save the view with errors, because TrackIR is running.

Cheers!

Thanks a ton, I did delete the correct file. I only used RAlt + Num0 to try saving a different default padlock view than the one I was stuck on previously. No key combo gets me OUT of those padlock views is the issue. I'm familiar with the controls now. However, none of them disable that padlock view. I only hit the number pad with my elbow while playing when this happened initially so I assume it was the Num. or Num0 buttons that I hit. Nothing seems to take me out of that type of view. I've deleted the file and done entire restarts. I will attempt a larger repair when I have more time, I just fear that I won't be able to download the game again.

I will try another repair but fear for the download issue I had. The game ran perfectly find with everything present until my elbow accidentally hit the Num0 key by accident and caused this issue. There were no problems with the game at all. This is apparently a feature of the game but I can't believe there isn't an easy way to just turn it off or toggle it on or off. So baffled by this.

Ah! I never use padlock, but to exit padlock I believe is the Num Lock key. I see what happened now. The padlock view is not saved. But yeah. I've hit it by mistake sometimes

I don't think a repair will work, as I don't think anything is wrong. Repair doesn't touch saved games anyway.
I think you'll get this sorted now.
Look in the controls for padlock.

Cheers!

Thank you for the reply. I have indeed attempted to use the NumLock key to no avail to get out of that view. I have looked up every padlock control, and as I stated a few times before, I have bound all of them (including the NumLock key) even to different keys, and other bindings on other devices just to test and see why it won't do as you say, and exit padlock view. Sadly, no matter what I do, or what I bind to NumLock, or which of the padlock controls I try, none of them take me out of that default fixed view in cockpit mode with TrackIR disabled. TrackIR continues to work fine in 3rd person view and elsewhere in game but not in F1 cockpit view. I did hit the key by mistake to begin with but if I can fix this I will certainly be unbinding everything that has to do with padlock so something this ridiculous never happens again lol

No chance that you have something in your TIR set to pausing it?  That should pause it all the time rather than just in flight though 🤨.  Might be worth doing an uninstall/reinstall on TIR first before you do DCS (it's a lot easier to redo).

Thanks a ton for replying. Unfortunately, since TrackIR works just fine in everything else, including DCS, I'm not so sure it's the culprit. TrackIR works in DCS in 3rd person and when you first load into a mission, before clicking away the briefing screen, then it snaps to that default padlock view I can't figure out. I also haven't had any trouble with TrackIR in any other program and I'm able to watch it to make sure it isn't getting paused or anything while I'm in DCS.

Hmmm

It this point I would delete the snapviews.lua, make sure TrackIR is NOT running, and then start DCS, and hop into the troubled module.

Forgot to ask. Does this happen in all modules?

I appreciate so much all the time you've taken to help Max, it means a ton, I was so psyched to be able to play again, had a friend over, and then bam haha. I will give that another shot and see what I can do before attempting a reinstall. It does happen with all modules, so I attempted fiddling with the general control options also, along with each particular module.

I’m not at my computer, so I can’t check but, under the Controller tab, there are a few categories that are universal and not related to a particular aircraft. Have you checked in there? Just a thought.

Oh! It's in all modules?

Right, then it's not the snapviews.lua for sure.

Seems it might some TrackIR thing then. Or a conflict of some sort. 🤷🏼‍♂️
