RSWedge Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 I used the search function and couldnt find a proper proceedure for unistallation. I am in the process of upgrading my operating system to Vista Ultimate 64 bit. What should I do to properly unistall DCS: Black Shark? Also, what files do I need to back up for my campaign and logbook? Thanks for any help.
miguez Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Hi Wedge, BS should have added a link to the Uninstall executable on your Start menu under Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50. Otherwise, the uninstall executable is in your main Ka-50 folder, where the game was installed. It is called uninstall.exe.
Airway Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Whaaa ! If you had installed and activated Black Shark, then you should deactivate Black Shark first, to prevent loosing an activation.
Chillspider Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 You have to deactivate it i believe before you do that and to do that you goto program files/eagle dynamics/Ka-50/Bin/stable and look for Protect.exe can some one from ED confirm you should deactivate before uninstalling Dell XPS 630i w/ Dell nForce 650i Sli ,Intel Q9650 @3.0 ,6.0 GB Ram @800Mhz, 2xGeforce 9800 GT 512 MB ,Saitek X52, Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals ,Dell 24" 1080P HD monitor, Klipsch THX Pro Media 2.1 ,TrackIR 4, Logitech MX518 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Axion Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 (edited) I have re-installed about three times, it only ever asked for activation on the initial install. Does this mean I have lost 3 activations? I thought reactivation was only necessary if you had undertaken major hardware or operating system changes. DEWorley Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 axion, same here, i've un-installed/re-installed it 3 or 4 times now! it hasn't asked for another re-activation yet.
EvilBivol-1 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 An activation is required only when there is a change of hardware/OS configuration. RSWedge Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks! Great info and links. Now, what files do I need to copy/backup for saving my Logbook and progress in campaigns?
Coolhnd1 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think there's a pdf manual called quick start guide (or something like that) which goes into detail about how to activate and deactivate the game install. I actually had to do this the other day because I was updating my BIOS. Unfortunately what is in the guide is slightly different than the screens I saw when I ran protect.exe and so I accidently re-activated instead of deactivated it and used up 1 activation I didn't need to. Oh well, good thing they give us a lot of activations/deactivations with the english version. -- CoolHand
