TACAN / TCN counter freezes

Hello,

first off, thanks for this wonderful campaign

 

my issue (beware, it's the first campaign I fly over Syria, so I don't claim about a campaign issue):

TCN range counter, an all missions flown so far, freezes at a certain point and, if I don't turn it off then on, the TCN marker on the HSI shifts, from the intended position, to a continuosly changing position, keeping the same range from ownship, when the counter froze

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I'll do some digging, not sure if it will be a Core DCS bug, or the Hornet or the Syria map.

did this ever get sorted? Just had the same issue with mission 3 and 4 once heading back to airport i enter in tacan it comes up and has distance, but will then freeze and sometimes just starts spinning on the HSI sometimes turning it on and off will fix it, but when happening it also seems to change the tacan postion i have had to workout visually and manually the return airfield.

No I never managed to pin it down unfortunately, I suspect it's a Syria map bug, I'm not aware of any major TACAN Hornet bugs and DCS core seems ok as AFAIK it works fine on other modules.

 

Unfortunately this ones out of my hands, however your initial waypoint and usually your final WP are set to Incirilk so you can just use these for navigation.

Tacan freeze isn't strictly a Syria issue.  I fairly consistently would run into it on a mission on NTTR.  Haven't flown that NTTR mission in quite a while but I haven't seen the bug recently anywhere else.

No worries thanks for replying. Couple of other things 1st might be a stupid question, but is it normal for not showing your location on F10 map if I bring it up I or no planes show up? Assuming they don’t is this wouldn’t be realistic can I turn it on if I want? 
2nd in mission 6 not saying a issue with the campaign, but when I descend to 150agl I switch to radar altimeter, but I know I am close to the ground,but my reading is about 1500-1800?

3rd also in mission 6 can’t remember in previous, but no aircraft show up on the SA page on mfd? I watched your play thru as I couldn’t find the target north of waypoint 8 and it says to follow e-boy on yours you could see e-boy, but I have nothing showing up? I have data link turned on. I did a search and found a issue of data link not working if tacan is turn off, but haven’t tried this yet just curious if anyone else had this issue.

besides these issues I am loving this campaign especially since there isn’t any air to air refueling as I haven’t 100% mastered this yet!

F10 map is locked to hide all information in the campaign.

Not sure on what's happening with your rad alt, maybe someone else reading this can offer any thoughts?

With DL, are you pressing the DL button twice before pressing ON?, this changed a few months ago as the ACLS was introduced.

Yes I am pushing DL button twice before turning on, but I will play around with it and see if I can work it out.

the rad alt is weird I will try on another map or mission and if still not working I’ll post on the fa18 section on the forum to see if anyone has any ideas.

OK thanks, shouldn't be anything campaign specific that should affect either of these.

Are you sure you have actually turned it on (the knob on the gauge next to your right knee, not the BARO/RDR display switch on the UFC)?  Are you getting R beside the altitude or B in the HUD?  Also (which shouldn't be the problem here if it's consistent in level flight) your RALT won't work in a hard bank.

Thanks @rob10 i didnt have it set didnt know i had to, but once i set a min altitude and push to test all good . Also @ChillNG my bad on the data link i did have it turned on, but i hadn't changed to the SA page after the intial setup so all working now. Also loving the campaign up to mission 6 and it's awesome good work! Problem with this game i find there is so much to learn if you dont use something for awhile you totally forget how to do it! It's great that the forum is so helpful.
