Played around with the Watching the Devildog's mission and I'm having some trouble with the AI wingman: he won't connect to the tanker. He parks himself about 1,000ft behind the tanker and just sits there, co-speed, and never closes in. I usually get him to anchor anyways, but despite full fuel and nothing but orbiting at FL250 he somehow manages to get low state 2.0 by the time we're back at the boat. Has anyone gotten him to hook up on the tanker?

You mean that the "go to tanker" command doesn't work?

It "works" in that the AI follows the command, chases after the tanker at a very slow closure rate, then settles out 1,000ft behind the tanker in trail and just sits there, with the tanker's left hose dragging out. I'm able to plug into the right hose and take on gas, but my wingman still just sits there even after I'm done and move off to the tanker's right wing.

The first part about the slow overtake I've seen on AI A-10s so I assume that's just a quirk of DCS, but the part about the AI hanging out 1,000ft in trail and never moving into pre-contact or contact is something I've never seen before.

Well, I got him to plug up for about three seconds. Then he slewed forward through the basket stopping forward of the tanker's left wing. Then slewed vertically down. Then slewed vertically back up. Then slewed aft, clipping the tankers left wing, sending it spiraling down to the ground, leaving me without any gas....
