Combat Oriented Display Options for Mission Editor

The ME in DCS is a powerful tool and one of the sim's best features. Newer maps with high detail, like Syria, also have numerous landmarks, factories, military facilities, etc, modeled, which is great for mission making. However, these very important items aren't really highlighted on the map. A mission maker may have to hunt down interest targets, even if there are multiple on the map, because they are invisible unless zoomed into. Some unique objects might even go completely unnoticed by many. This needs to be fixed. The DCS map should highlight things like factories, warehouses, military bases, powerplants, bridges, government buildings, landmarks, etc even when zoomed all the way out. Some of these might also be counted as warehouses in the sim by default. This would help immensely with mission making.

 

Attached is a rough sample of what a map with these indicators might look like. I used different static objects to highlight different types of infrastructure. In addition to this a list of important map objects for each map would also be nice, along with names on the map itself. While all of this does make the map a bit more cluttered, the map already has a visual filter. These new additions can be added as options on the filter.
