-Nighthawk- Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 This has happened twice now, on the start of a mission I'm already to go on the runway, contacted the tower to take off and I'm just ready to go. Next thing I know I heard this huge noise and my helicopter starts shaking like crazy so I immediately turn off all engines to stabilize myself. I look up in the sky and it turns out the Wingman #2 has crashed into me not knowing I was actually on the runway. My rotor blades have been completely destroyed and half of my helicopter has been damaged. What's up with the AI and not actually knowing I was there in the first place? Seems kind of annoying when I was to take my time and not rush things within the game ;)
S3PukkU Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Similar thing happened to me the other day. Was playing the Gauntlet mission, sent one of the wingmen to do my bidding, got run over by said wingman. Anyway, this has been discussed before, keep'em away from you and you'll be fine. In Over-G Fighters is a lot worse, I'm actually more afraid of my wingman than the enemy planes, who are actually trying to kill me...:lookaround: "Never interrupt you enemy when he is making a mistake" - Napoleon Bonaparte
VikVaughan Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I was cleared to land last night and was greeted with a surprise just forward of the threshold. Same thing has happened a few times before, but I got a go-around on the radio those times. Just treat the runway as uncontrolled, or avoid it all together. d0ppler Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 the worst thing is that the Combat Spread formation is not spread at all. Everytime I do a sharp turn or bleed off the speed by pulling cyclic and lowering collective I'm terrified that my wingman will hit me. Don't use F-1, F-6, F-3 (Combat Spread) Use F-1, F-6, F-10 (Combat) places wingman farther away. Use it right after take-off.
fox_111 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 First thing I do once airborn and stabilised, I hit Winkey + T (loose formation). That set my wingmen(s) very far from me and they don't try to follow all my move all the time when I'm in combat, flying around building and valleys.
