Will Deka swap the RD-93 for the WS-13 if an announcement comes out that PK switches?

It looks like it may be hard to source replacement parts for the RD-93. Just wondering if Deka is committed to making the switch if Pakistan does.

I wouldnt trust Indian medias when then talk about the Pakistan JF-17. They have claimed many wrong things in the past about it.

Well aware of that, but it is true the RD-93 parts are hard to come by, just check Pakistan defense forums, other sources. They're not going to come out and say it, but if you don't have spare parts because of the sanctions on Russia, well... you gotta do something.

Our JF-17 isn't from "today", nevermind from the future. It's an older block that only had RD-93s. Even if Pakistanis do swap the engines, the resulting aircraft will be a higher block than the one we have.

Deka has already stated that if they upgrade the "Block I" with a HMD they would add it, hence why I am asking. the WS-13E supposedly has 6% more thrust wet, 13% more thrust dry, a higher bypass ratio, and slightly lower TWR. I don't believe it would make it a different block, considering we have some weird hybrid of a Block I and Block II to begin with.

If they do, I hope they make it an option.

The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts.

if there's evidence showing block i/ii with ws-13, then we can do that (special option for toggle)

I’m surprised you would be able to get information for it. But I suppose as the rest of your sources are Chinese that might be easier then RD-93. But hey maybe the manual mentions it. It is accurate I look forward to it!

Im actually surprised by this news since Pak have their own RD-93 overhaul facility in karma. I would think they could fabricate anything they need, but perhaps there are things like turbine blades that they just cannot do

They also have to source the metals, which has been problematic. That may change soon, perhaps they can convince Ukraine to sell them their ferrous scrap.

Thats great to know 🙂 for now though WS-13E is barely even viable for the III, RD-93MA may come first although 13E would be ideal.
