The P-47D can carry more, the Spitfire, P-51D and P-47D all are faster. There is no reconnaissance version, so where is the niche for this Warbird?

Torpedo bomber, the Ju-88 carries them, so we need one 🙂 - albeit all we can hunt is subs

The torpedo carrying mosquito is a later post-war model, that is quite different from our FB.VI.

The P-47 can only sort-of carry more - this is a pretty crazy overload option that can only be carried to short range. I don’t know if it was actually used in combat. Don’t forget that the Mosquito also carries more potent projectile armament built in, as well as a 2nd crewman, and lots of special equipment - to far longer ranges than the P47D.

What matters for the FB.VI is its deck speed. How fast it flies at 22 kft or higher to achieve max TAS numbers is completely irrelevant to its mission.

Still, our Mosquito is about 15 mph (or even more) too slow in its sea level speed. We have the performance numbers of FB.VI with the saxophone exhaust ducts and flame shrouds, while the 3D model is clearly the stub tubes with no shrouds. The latter is the configuration used in day missions such as day rangers and maritime strike. I posted a thread about this in the Bugs and Problems sub-forum.

You're right, the I didn't read my reference article close enough, they only went into production post WWII and in development in 1944.
