phant Posted December 24, 2023 Posted December 24, 2023 (edited) As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering love and support and show you some early WIP Pilot Renderings. Your enthusiasm and dedication have been the driving forces behind our journey, and for that, we are deeply thankful. This past year has been one of organic growth for us. We are now at a stage where our team is well-equipped and ready to face the exciting challenges that lie ahead. On the technical front, our Flight Model has seen significant progress. The work on the Flight Control System (FCS), including the Command Stability Augmentation System (CSAS), commenced in mid-2023. This involves the use of intricate diagrams with numerical values for nearly every component, such as the lead-lag compensators, ensuring an extremely accurate simulation of the FCS which should translate to lots of fun flying the iconic swing-wing machine. Looking forward to 2024, we are excited about several developments: 50 Years of Tornado: As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tornado in 2024, expect more frequent updates and announcements from us. We have several special things planned for this milestone year. RECCE Pod Integration: One of our key focuses is on integrating the RECCE Pod and its footage into DCS. Our goal is to achieve the highest level of realism while ensuring it remains user-friendly. Flight Planning: We are exploring how to best create a flight planning suite for the Tornado like DIPLAS in order to give REECE gathered with the pod real gameplay value and provide multiple options for how you want to fly your Tornado. Your support and feedback is invaluable to us, and we are eager to share new developments as we progress with you. Here's to a ground breaking 2024! phant Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) AviaStorm’s Tornado Development Progress The AviaStorm team has been hard at work crafting the highly anticipated DCS: Tornado. We are pleased to share a development report to keep you in the loop. The Tornado is undergoing meticulous attention to detail to ensure an immersive and quality module. Five 3D artists are currently working on the project, which involves significant personnel commitment. This investment will result in a module that meets your expectations. AviaStorm has had the opportunity to examine many small details of this aircraft for the level of detail that DCS demands. Such details may not initially stand out, or even be noticed by most customers, but they are crucial in the context of creating a masterpiece that is the Tornado. An example includes the emergency RAM air flap and two cooling flaps. “We are dedicated to achieving the level of quality we and Eagle Dynamics aspire to and what is expected from DCS customers.” – AviaStorm Bye Phant Edited January 26, 2024 by phant 1
phant Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 2024 is the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the Tornado. We wanted to provide an update to the community on the status of development for the module. The next step in the development of the Tornado has been focused on the “office”, both Pilot and WSO cockpits are the beating heart of the jet and what people will become the most familiar with when flying the Tornado. We are progressing very well and are working on ensuring that we can really bring the Tornado to life and provide the best and most detailed Tornado simulation in the modern age. Of course, the flight model is very important to a comprehensive Tornado experience, we have commenced work on the Flight Control System (FCS) and the Command Stability Augmentation System (CSAS) as of mid last year. Work has also been underway for 6 months now on the design of a complex engine model. - AviaStorm FONTE https://discordapp.com/channels/1020277498363269120/1020303137145368627/1200593885936767026 Bye Phant
phant Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) AviaStorm On this day of August 14th 1974 the Tornado made it's first flight from Manching in Germany. Crewed by Paul Millett and Nils Meister the Panavia Tornado first took off at 17:21 with the flight lasting 33 minutes. This marked the start of one of the most successful multinational fighter jet programs of the cold war. We are very excited to be bringing this iconic aircraft to DCS, please join us on discord for more news to come. https://discord.gg/esnHvNQyGR Bye Phant Edited August 14, 2024 by phant 1
phant Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Tornado 50th Anniversary We are celebrating the Panavia Tornado’s first flight that took place on the 14th of August 1974. The Tornado was specified in response to the need for a versatile, multi-role tactical fighter that could perform equally well in high speed low-level penetration, reconnaissance, air superiority, and air defence missions. The collaboration between Germany, Italy and the UK, formalized in the late 1960s, was very ambitious and aimed to pool expertise and resources to create an aircraft that would serve multiple NATO air forces and fulfill varied roles. The multinational team worked tirelessly, overcoming linguistic, technical, and bureaucratic barriers, driven by a shared vision of innovation and excellence. On the 14th of August 1974, in Manching, Germany, the airfield roared to life with the sound of the Tornado taking to the skies for the first time. This marked the culmination of years of rigorous design and engineering efforts by three European nations: The United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. The Panavia Tornado was destined to redefine modern warfare and aviation for decades. The 50th anniversary of the Tornado's first flight was not just a celebration of a remarkable aircraft, but a commemoration of spirit, innovation, and resilience. It was a reminder that when nations come together with a shared vision, they can achieve extraordinary things. Development Report The last 18 months of work on the flight model has seen the inaccuracies of the transonic aerodynamics resolved. Aviastorm has worked on fully simulating the unique flight characteristics of all wingsweep positions. The module’s aerodynamic model is matched with a detailed recreation of the mighty RB-199 engines which also power the electrical and hydraulic systems. The team have also simulated the generator electrical loads and the hydraulic pressures required to move the flight control surfaces and other mechanical systems. The modeling of the complex flight controls and Control And Stability Augmentation Systems (CSAS) is now the biggest task still remaining to ensure correct aircraft handling, ready for comprehensive flight testing. Accuracy is important to mimic the unique flight performance and characteristics of this complex variable geometry aircraft. The 3D model is also nearing completion and we are delighted to share these work in progress screenshots of the “First flight” Livery. For more updates visit the Aviastorm discord. Bye Phant 1
