609 Avatar Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I've decided to finally switch my gaming rig's OS to Vista 64 Ultimate (BS being the main impetus here) and I have BS on another HD from my OS. My question is do I still need to deactivate BS and then reinstall it and reactivate it or can I just leave it where it is, install a fresh copy of Vista and still have it run (like how IL-2 doesn't need any reg entries to run) or just reinstall it over itself without the need for reactivation? I don't want to waste any deactivations/activations if I don't have to. Thanks for any help and insight you can give! 1 S! miguez Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hey 609, No idea, but you could simply install the new OS, and see if the game runs. if it doesn't, then deactivate+uninstall and reinstall.

I thought of that but then how can I deactivate it if the game doesn't work? I'm not sure how it all works as I haven't done any of it yet but I am assuming that it will need to be working in order to deactivate it. I could be totally wrong here and that's why I'm posting this question to try and find out what's the most painless way to start with a new OS. Ideally I'd like to wipe out my current XP install and then install Vista and either have BS still work (like IL-2 would) or just be able to reinstall over the current location without having to use up an activation or deactivate first just put in all the registry stuff that's needed, etc. So I was hoping that someone else may have already done what I'm trying to do. Thanks for the response! S! Talon Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 probably better to deactivate it first, since you won't lose that activation anyways. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
