Picure Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 I always wished that DCS had persistent damage for the aircraft we fly. In other words, the state of our aircraft is saved even after we logged off. That way, running pre flight checks and tests would be more meaningful when we join a server each time. And this way, we can really feel like we own that particular aircraft 2
JCTherik Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Yess!!! Owning planes just like we do with pilots, keeping track of flight hours in them. Also would be nice to have the airplane eventually recovered if crash landing outside of an airport. There would have to be an exception for dogfight servers, but I think we would see a bit more more realistic gameplay from people instead of the ever present fly-shoot-die-respawn loop. As it is now, the preflight checks feel really empty since the airplane always spawns pristine, with all the switches left in the same positions every time. As an alternative, it would also be nice if the servers had a limited number of physical airplanes, and when a player spawns into a plane, it would be in the state that the previous player left it in. 1

That exception needs to be available everywhere. This feature doesn't make much sense in DCS. You don't own your plane, you're a military pilot. And after you leave your plane, it's probably going to handled by a maintenance crew, not left in some random configuration by a pilot who jumped out without following procedures. I'd only accept this in DCS if I could completely disable it. 2 Awaiting: DCS F-15C Win 10 i5-9600KF 4.6 GHz 64 GB RAM RTX2080Ti 11GB -- Win 7 64 i5-6600K 3.6 GHz 32 GB RAM GTX970 4GB -- A-10C, F-5E, Su-27, F-15C, F-14B, F-16C missions in User Files
Mr. Big.Biggs Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 For even more realism, oh and to prevent the “fly, shoot, die, respawn loop”, they should make it an option that if you die, your permanently banned from a server. Maybe even lock you permanently out of DCS. Now that’s realism! 1 I9 (5Ghz turbo)2080ti 64Gb 3200 ram. 3 drives. A sata 2tb storage and 2 M.2 drives. 1 is 1tb, 1 is 500gb. SharpeXB Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 I think some of these dynamic war servers (Blue Flag or DDCS) already track logistics and such. It should be easy in the context of these to limit aircraft and resources etc. giving the player a reason to get their aircraft home is always a good thing imo. In the context of a dynamic campaign this would be a good idea too. 1 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Cathnan Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 I think it would be awesome to have this option. For SP I think it would make sense to have a check mark or button in the mission selector / before spawn, that let's you decide if you want a new jet or "your" jet. Especially for campaigns it would make sense. But obviously optional. 1
