New "bigger" presets with variation clear / rain or similar

With the moving clouds incoming, but with true dynamic weather still a bit further away, i'd be good to have some more presets that have both rain/overcast areas and clear/scattered parts in it, so we can have missions were weather (or at least cloud coverage) actually changes and it's not just tiny clear patches rolling through an otherwise overcast sky.

Agree, atm if you want rain you need to select preset with overcast. A mix of overcast/scattered would be nice.

I was hoping the dynamic weather to generate clouds in 2.8.

I'd back this request, building missions using the rain settings brings so may problems with the density of low cloud.

Would be great for one of the overcast and rain to be changed to scattered showers. Get the effects from rain, but not the heavy cloud cover.

Nearly a year later and no sign of the promised dynamic weather yet.

Having some "bigger" weather presets with more internal variety could be a very quick and easy addition to substitute a true dynamic weather. Of course the dynamic weather simulation remains the ultimate goal, but until then this proposal could be a really good stopgap.

+1, though personally I'd go one step further and go for just being able to make your own presets.

But if not, more presets would definitely be welcome.

if dynamic weather is not coming anytime soon, please at least consider this request.

either add even more presets or allow custom compound presets made from two or more predefined presets.
the result should be a very simple abstraction of a "weather system" where there could be different weather on different parts of the map. that could surely be achieved without a "dynamic" weather simulation... just have multiple areas with different presets that move around following the wind... or similar...

again... dynamic weather is the gold standard, but i think an extremely simplified model could be "good enough" already. the different "systems" don't necessarily need to interact with each other. just let us have different (moving) weather systems (presets) in different areas of the map.

Given that we have fixed terrain sandboxes to play in, and really, there's only a handful of weather patterns per season per terrain: it might be sufficient to just create presets that mimic actual weather but aren't actually simulations. For example, windward coastal environments, versus inland deserts, versus mountains on the same map. Wouldn't need to necessarily model orographic lift or anything if it's just a set of curated weather scenarios.
