pabletesoy Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Hello, the manual says: Pressing and holding the switch aligns the radar antenna with the ARL in acquisition and tracking phase of DM, DG and GUNS modes. If locked, the radar will continue to track the target. When the switch is released, the antenna returns to the previous azimuth and tracking position. I am trying to make it work or get some kind of feedback on the aircraft when I press it but I don't see functionality anywhere...any ideas? Thanks!!!
pabletesoy Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Well, when I press Sight Cage with the GM mode the sight moves up. What I don't know is what is the usability of that.... Edited October 24, 2022 by pabletesoy
VZ_342 Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 I don't know about the F-5, but on the F-111 it helps the pilot find out where the reticle went to...the 111 reticle had a pretty large range of motion and it was possible to lose sight of it when keeping your Mk 1 eyeball on the target aircraft.
pabletesoy Posted October 24, 2022 Author Posted October 24, 2022 But then is it a kind of aiming aid? an alternative to the Missile Uncage switch ?
VZ_342 Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 Not really an aiming aid, it just helps locate the reticle for the pilot.
