FriedrichNix Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 (edited) Hey, first - great campaign, much fun so far and an awesome addition to really learn the A10C(II). I am really early in the campaign and take my time, but here's a couple of things about mission 5. - I finished with a score of 75 but don't know where I lost 25 points. As it doesn't matter to me, it's ok. A couple of things I have messed up, but I didn't ge ta negative feedback from Biff. - At MOPAR I first didn't know what to do. After takeoff I think it was a message to fly to MOPAR and wait. I would find it great, if another message would come up at MOPAR to anchor and wait for Biff. After circling a bit I continued to fly to the next waypoints. I then got the message that Biff took off and I flew back to MOPAR. - Time HACK. The 5 minute hack was announced quite early and was also mentioned in the documents. So it was easy to get it right. After that there is a 2 minute hack, which I didn't know of. It was like "2 minute hack coming up. 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - HACK". I honestly didn't manage to get it input that fast. But since Biff was lead, I guess I didn't have to. Maybe a message "2 minute hack coming up soon" a minute or so before the actual hack starts would be awesome to get everything set up. Other than that, it's much fun to play the campaign and I am already looking forward to Part 2 and what is coming up then! Edited October 29, 2022 by Griefhard 1
FPS_Sage Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 Same thing - loving this campaign so far, but I just finished this mission today and I got a score of 75 (and the previous one as well) and I'm not sure why. I have some ideas on why I might have lost points, but not sure: 1.) Honestly I didn't fly in formation very well with Biff most of the time. There weren't really any instructions or briefing from him on how to fly formation other than left echelon, how close he wanted me, and most importantly, what speed he was aiming for at the different waypoints. I was really having trouble staying a consistent distance from him as we passed the different waypoints, especially in the early parts over the lake. He seemed to vary between about 220-270kts but with no rhyme or reason. I'm still fairly new to this game and module - is there some way to view your wingman's speed once he's hooked on the TAD? 2.) I exited the runway and contacted Ground and listened to the end of mission banter about getting a beer (love those little details in these missions, btw). Got the "Mission Complete" message so I just quit right then rather than taxiing to the parking stand and shutting down. Anyway, what a great idea for a mission so I'll try it again, but getting more feedback/clarity on the scoring process would be a great enhancement for future campaigns.
baltic_dragon Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I just checked - the only thing that matters is your formation on the final leg over the Strip, you really need to be in wingtip to score the 25 points. After mission complete you are safe to just leave the mission, you don't need to shut down the aircraft. For more information, please visit my website. FPS_Sage Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Thanks for checking baltic_dragon. I tried again but couldn't hold formation (my fault!) so I'll keep after it!
Mistermann Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) I flew this mission today. What a thrill. While this probably sounds corny, having the ability to perform during the most patriotic American holiday over the iconic Vegas strip (which I've been to many times) with fireworks and radio chatter thanking us, was one of those DCS experiences that I'll never forget.
