Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I cannot make radio comms work.  No matter how much I hit radio comms, the comms menu simply won't activate.  Ergo, can't refuel in mission 1 and can't call in the number of sinkers in mission 3.

Make sure you have realistic radio selected in your settings.

There are three keys for selecting the radio menu. One when you are on the ground, one when airborne using radio 1 and one when airborne and using radio 2. You have to use the right ones. Are you aware of this?

No, I quit using Vaicom since it seemed to go belly up awhile back.

I am using realistic radio.  What are the commands for using the radio?  In mission Mixing It Up With the Locals, no matter how often I try to radio in the number of subs the menu won't come up.  Same happened, as noted, with previous missions when trying to radio the tanker or the carrier ATC.  No response to radio at all.

The brief before the mission says all the necessary information is on the kneeboard, but I don't see any additional information.  There are no other radio channels noted there, and no notes on various comm keyboard controls.  Is there a text or pdf file somewhere that shows special keys to use the radios?

Also, in  Mixing It Up With the Locals, the tips say go to waypoints 4 through 7 as it is trigger based, by the coordinates given to look for the subs are far from those waypoints.  Anyway, I flew the waypoints and went to the coordinates, too--and still no radio option comes up.

Also, when I completed  Mixing It Up With the Locals, I get a message that says I failed the mission.  However, upon closing the mission it says I succeeded.  It's hard to know what to make of it.

ATC, along with refuellers, do not respond.

But since the latest update, the lighting is off and and other random bugs are occurring. Maybe the comms issue is a bug related to the latest update.

Roger! Was just asking because VAICOM can hide the menus , and that could be a reason why the menus don't show. Especially if it's not uninstalled and you still use VoiceAttack. I would try a repair of DCS.
Or, VAICOM has gone open source and a community fix is available in the Discord.

Hi

The campaign scripting cannot change the operational controls of the radio this can only be done your end. As standard in DCS:

the radio menu on the ground is called up using \

the radio in the air for radio box 1 is RAlt + \

the radio in the air for radio box 2 is RCtrl + \

Just checked, these are working in mission. Is this what you are using. You must use the correct activation keys or you won’t get a response.

Should ask at this point are you running any mods as they can break missions. All DLC campaigns are based on no mods.

Regarding following the way points you are correct but the note also says to follow any instructions so you are right to divert. This will happen from time to time if events change the prior flight plan.

You will fail the mission if you have not been able to carry out the mission requirement’s. (Due to the radio issues you have). The campaign was written before DCS introduced their own mission bypass facility. This campaign introduced a mission bypass facility prior to the DCS version as requested by pilots. This as described means making a selection to opt for this within the first five minutes of the mission. If you did this then you will get a success even if you failed the mission. Is this what happened. If not if you could explain exactly what messages you get when that would be helpful for me to track down why that should happen.

What do you mean by lighting issues? I know ED has introduced a Halloween theme so things glow green. Is that it.

Yes it’s quite possible 2.8 has introduced bugs. If you could tell me what and when I can check them out.

Hope this helps.

I forgot about the way ED changed the way comms worked.  The R CTRL \ and R ALT \ resolved it. Not a bug. My bad.

No problem. Always happy to hear if a mission has broke so I can fix.

Honestly, I am loving this campaign. Simple shoot'em ups are so boring. I love how this campaign challenges you to refuel, use the TGP and operate more like an actual pilot who takes a variety of missions, including even just ferrying an FA-18 to a hot zone on the other side of the world.
