@AeriaGloria seems you are right, when gunsight is select max hud range is 0.8 mn.

If i remenber correctly,it was not like that before, and it's very confusing when you do a dogfight and select the gun before merge.

It should be better if it was fix at 2 mn.

I would agree with you…… if I thought it was possible to hit anything beyond .5 nm🤣 think I’ve only hit significant distance on straight and level transport planes. 
 

If it’s a fix for the infinite gun drawing, I’m all for it until a fix is found. If realistic, it shows the designers were aware how bad their 2.5 degree down gun installation was. If it’s a bug and needs to be fixed, good job bringing it up🤣👍

It's the distance to where it would hit if it were in CCIP mode - essentially, how far bullets would travel before hitting something, of course it won't calculate that beyond 0.8.

CCIP ranges quite a bit farther out. 
 

The round self destruct at 6 seconds, if we consider muzzle velocity as an average that gives us 2.3 nautical miles

because it's in air to air mode. It probably shouldn't be calculating CCIP for air to air, that's what should be fixed, but that's what it seems to be doing.
