flanker1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 hello francous und fans of the fishbed, maybe this helps a little bit: http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/mig-21mf-fishbed-max/428146 http://www.su-30.com/aircraft/MiG-21/ http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:MiG_21_SMT_-_Altenburg-Nobitz.jpg http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/dynoGallDetail.asp?photoID=4381780 http://www.mig-21.de/ regards, flanker
Francous Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) http://www.aviapedia.com/videos/series/vd/farewell-Mig-21.wmv So your favorites are the MiG-21 MF , and U/UM or PF-fishbed-D .. right? Edited January 15, 2009 by Francous
flanker1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 my favourite is the mig-21 smt (with the bigger back --> fueltank, new more powerful engine, onboard canon)- this is the last evolution model of the 21 with powerful weapons equipment (also atomic capable bombs) and was in service until the late 90´s - and is still backup fighter in the russian airforce. find her here: http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bi...smt_walk_1.htm regards the weapons: if needed i can make a chart were you can find all possible and real ammunition loads for each of the 4 pylon air2air and air2ground).
Francous Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Yes Flanker also if i remember it was the less agile of all MiG21's
flanker1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 yes, the -bis model was for export and also flown in russian airforce - but not so powerful and with limited strike capability - as far as i know. which one is your favourite? :-)
Vekkinho Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) I can't exactly say which Fishbed version is my favorite but most of the Fishbeds I've seen live and still keep seeing are the MiG-21bis-D (fishbed-L) and MiG-21MF (fishbed - J) and MF-R (version equipped with recon containters). I have a pretty good access to MiG-21bis data in case of a need for performance charts! MiG-21bis is the most powerful Fishbed of them all with R-25-300 Tumanski and carries 2880 liters of fuel. The engines are capable of "Krayniy forsazh" (extreme afterburner) for couple of minutes, fuel flow is enormous and engine overheats pretty fast! Extereme AB is increasing the thrust from 7100 kgf to 9900 kgf. Plane can accelerate from 600 km/h to 1100 km/h in 17,4 seconds (the MiG-29 (9-12) does it in 11,6 sec). The climb rate is 225 m/s (18000m/min) In case you're interested in SMT here's a SMT photo walkaround: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/AWA1/501-600/walk524_Mig21SMT_Weinel/walk524.htm Edit: Wiki on MiG-21: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIG-21 Edited January 15, 2009 by Vekkinho [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
flanker1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 oh, vekkinho you have very detailed informations. :-) ok, regarding the engine power i was unsure if the smt or -bis has the most powerful engine. what i´m sure is, that the smt has the r-13 engine. thank you for the walkaround. i love the airbrake and hope it can be animated?? (ps: the smt is called fishbed k)
flanker1 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 i love the blue 54. . . i think she was flown in former eastern germany until the middle of the 80´s. . . in altenburg - 968.IAP
Vekkinho Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Hey Borchi check these photos: Croatian MiG-21bis and Italian F-16 Blk50(?) over isles of Cres, Pag and Rab in the Kvarner bay during Istrian Wings 2007 exercise! Edited January 16, 2009 by Vekkinho 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Francous Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) OK i found it that can help but they are always not precise :( Edited January 16, 2009 by Francous
flanker1 Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 ok, then i will call him and ask for a higher resolution one (or the origin file). or do you mean that the printings itself are not detailed enough?
Ulrich Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Ok. Are you going to build MiG-21 3D model? Please contact me at Ulrich[at]eagle.ru if yes. 1
Francous Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) Yes Ulrich.. Flanker yes got 2 books now PDF but the print is soo pixeleted.. :( so i'm still looking. Thanks I will find it soon.. There is no way that i will not .. Edited January 16, 2009 by Francous
Vekkinho Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) Here some details on SMT/ST/bis differences: so bis is the lastest MiG-21 airframe built in GAZ 21 plant in Gorky, it's a successor of SMT and ST airframes. Here's the photo of a ST (ex SMT retrofitted with a bis type spinal tank): But if you compare diameter of intake you'll notice a difference and that is probably the only way to visually distinguish between bis and older SM. Here's the fact, SMT and ST were equipped with Tumanski R-13-300 and intake diameter was 880mm while MiG-21bis equipped with R-25-300 has 910mm diameter of intake. flanker1 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) hey guys, very detailed information and a lot of spirit in this topic. that´s the way i like it. :-) thanks for that! the st-model is pretty nice. . . maybe the nicest one(???!) i became dreaming of the camo´s - one in light grey and and in light green/light brown/dark green/dark brown. . . :-) wow. . . francous, i tried to call the guy from the grafik agency regarding a detailed blue print - but didnt reached him until yet - maybe because of the weekend. i will try again. . . maybe yolon´s model or skin template helps to solve some issues. . . here is the link to lockonfiles: http://lockonfiles.com/modules/Downloads/fileuploads/MIG-21_Beta%201.0.zip http://lockonfiles.com/modules/Downloads/fileuploads/MIG+21+Skin+template+beta+1+0.rar (please keep in mind that this 3d-model is a little too big regarding the lock-on environment - i dont know yolons reasons) Edited January 17, 2009 by flanker1
