RedHot Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Xmast is comming up and I wanted to treat myself with a pair of the Sensoryx VRfree consumer golvesystem for my F18 setup. However, I cant seme to find a shop which sells them. Can anyone help here ?
Gruman Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) I never heard of anybody using them in any productive way. Don't waste your money. Look for other solutions (PointCtrl, Leap Motion, or other DIY projects). Don't really know why they are still in the option menu in DCS. cordite Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Don't waste your money. It was a nice idea; but go with Pointctrl instead. I don't see gloves being a good option until the headsets provide them as native accessories. 1
RedHot Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 thks guys. Good advice. A little surprising that ED have formal support in DCS for VRfree when it semes like the product is not mature enough for the market, and basically no where to be found. I´ve looked at some YT videos about Leap Motion and it looks like it has some limitations. Spesifically when u grab the hotas with your hands….. Since 2.8 my Vive VR hand controllers cause my hotas stick to act kinda crazy -flickering back and forth. So, I need to turn them off to be able to fly the jet, leaving me with the mouse to interact with the cockpit. This is a step backwards in realism and also very annoying. So, I have to find an alternative solution to the VR hand controllers to interact with the cockpit
edmuss Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 The trick I've found with leap motion is to have the sensor positioned such that it occludes your hands when your head up and they only appear when you're looking down at controls. The laser pointers on the leap implementation is now a LOT better than it ever has been, but to me there is no better realism than turning off the pointers and reaching out to hit the control that you want. Obviously limitations aside, it's getting better all the time. I got my leap for 35 quid on eBay and it's the best value immersion booster I have 1 Ryzen7 7800X3D / RTX3080ti / 64GB DDR5 4800 / Varjo Aero / Leap Motion / Kinect Headtracking TM 28" Warthog Deltasim Hotas / DIY Pendular Rudders / DIY Cyclic Maglock Trimmer / DIY Abris / TM TX 599 evo wheel / TM T3PA pro / DIY 7+1+Sequential Shifter / DIY Handbrake / Cobra Clubman Seat Shoehorned into a 43" x 43" cupboard.

Your leap is mounted to the VR HMD ponting more downwards?
edmuss Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 (edited) It's on the top surface, but set back a few mm from the front face so the edge of the headset occludes the hands. I use the hands use stick option enabled because it saves needing to set a deadzone in the axis. Also as I mostly fly helos I'm developing a mechanical force trim system that will hold the stick in one place, without the hands use stick option this would permanently disable the right hand. It sort of has formal support in DCS, and it took a long time to get that. That's the thing about these 3rd party hand tracking solutions, they need support from the game devs themselves. You should be able to get it from SensoryX themselves; but again, Pointctrl is the way for now. 1
