Any Quest 2 users should give Virtual Desktop another try after it's recent performance update.

I agree that the latest VD greatly improves the graphics performance (I gained 30 fps!). But there is still a big problem: Voice Attack does not work with VD. I tested several settings and it doesn't work! It's annoying.

Been using VA with VD for months, no issues. I did set VA to specifically send the commands to DCS iirc tho.

Might just need to change the mic input on VA, as VD creates a virtual one iirc.

This is what I do, without success... I choose the "VD" microphone in VA, but nothing happens...

I caved and bought a 5800X3D.

Quick benches with and without shadows (on the ground is not going to be the same as in the air, obviously):

Good to hear, unfortunately launching VD in the Oculus api is not doable on the current MT build for whatever reason. Still works for single threaded exe tho. Hopefully that gets fixed, I think it's trying to force everyone to launch in OpenXR again like last time.

I can only continue to recommend VD for any Q2 or Pico 4 users that haven't tried it with DCS yet. You no longer need to tweak the shortcut, just right click VD and point to DCS shortcut on standalone, or with a steam install just start DCS from within the games tab in VD.

New GPU, current performance on a fairly busy MP server (though just after reset) with shadows and reprojection off. In-game settings in video, "medium" on VD is roughly 2000x2100, "high" is roughly 2500x2600 per eye. On link that is 4000x2100 or 5000x2600.

If you're on DCS standalone, you need to right click VD in the task bar and point it towards DCS shortcut to launch. If on steam install, you need to launch DCS from within the games tab inside VD.

The Q2 isn't perfect, but the current tradeoffs make it worth considering. Though the Pico 4 frankly has it beat on all fronts atm.

I can't seem to get the Steam, MT version of DCS to run from the games tab inside VD. It just runs the regular version. Is there something I'm missing?

I don't personally use the steam version, but you do not need to run DCS from the games tab. For most/many other games yes, for DCS no need.

Try having VR ticked in the actual DCS settings then just launch it via steam as if you were going to play flatscreen, VD should pick it up. And it shouldn't be launching into SteamVR either. If it is you've got the wrong runtime selected, that was a relatively recent change as VDXR enables bypassing SteamVR in compatible titles.

I don't understand... is VD  a separate app or are we talking about the VD normally accessed through oculus link?

VD is a seperate app that runs on the oculus and pico wireless headsets (and bought on their relevant stores), it's an alternative to oculus link entirely. Think of it like the recently released steam link, both steam link and VD operate as alternatives to oculus link, but both are wireless only.

There is another app called VD on Steam but that is a different program entirely.
