Gunthrek Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Greetings! What are the settings that have the most impact on cockpit clarity? I can accept a fair amount of blur out in the distance with VR still being what it is today, but I was hoping better for the close up textures in the cockpit. While the cockpit is relatively clear, it's hard to see smaller text on things like displays or small labels that I can see very clearly on a regular monitor. Are we still just so early with VR that I'm hoping for too much, or are there changes I can make that will increase the clarity of items in the cockpit? Thanks!
speed-of-heat Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 A number of things you don't mention your settings or hardware, but: - driving the highest number of pixels you can whilst maintaining the highest frame rate you can - the hardware of your lenses sweet spot - using lens inserts if you wear glasses normally SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

I can compare Pimax Artisan and Pico 4. On Artisan rising any settings and rendering resolution over around 2000px does not give any image quality in headset. Just because screen can not show clear picture even if it is rendered with 4000px size. But Pico 4 even on 2160px showing clear picture with readable texts on MFD in F16. Just because it has enough PPD to show what is rendered 1 to 1. And because of that I can get more clear picture with lower render scale on Pico then on Artisan with higher render scale. So. To get clear texts in cockpit you need to choose headset with higher pixel density on deegree. Hp G1/G2, Aero, Pico 4, Pimax Crystal and so on. You will not be able to get clear texts on headset which PPD is less then 20.
WipeUout Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Also ensure the option "Res. of cockpit displays" is set to 1024 or the highest you can afford. Using a reshader will also improve clarity by increasing sharpness. I use Reshade 4.9.1 and it helps a lot, mod attached. This can be used with any version as it is post processing. Tusk.V Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 3dmigoto works too. You can change cockpit clarity and MFD/HUD without changing anything else. Main Pit: i7 13700KF, RTX 4090, Pimax Crystal Super Co-Pilot Pit: i7 11700K, RTX 3090, Pimax Crystal OG
