Hi everyone,

I am getting the occaisional hangups and crashes in DCS with the latest openbeta release and I am not sure what is causing this. The last one was this late afternoon. Please find attached my log files. Can someone take a look and give me some feedback on this please? Thanks!

Hi. According to your crash log, the crash was either caused by your graphics driver or a memory issue.

Try these:

  1. Clear DCS cache and NVIDIA shader cache.
  2. Manually set your pagefile size to 32GB (init sizee = 32768, max size = 32768).
  3. Uninstall then reinstall your graphics driver.
  4. Scan your RAM using MemTest for an hour or so.
    • If you're seeing errors (red lines), it means your RAM has issues: in that case, shut your PC down, remove RAM then reseat it and see if it helps.
  5. Lower or disable XMP profile in BIOS.
  6. Update your BIOS (last resort).

Hi Flappie,

First I would like to wish you a very happy new year. May 2023 be a year full joy, happiness, peace and good health for you and all who are dear to you!

Thanks for your tips.

1) Clear DCS cache: A couple of days ago I deleted the fxo and metashaders2 folders from the saved games folder. I also ran a full DCS repair. On the NVIDIA shader cache, I will have to do some research on this.

2) Pagefile: Currently the windows 11 is set to manage the page file automatically. I have 32Gb RAM, so I will give this a try and set it manually as you suggested.

3) Graphics driver: Current version of the Graphics driver is Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 v 527.56 which was installed around 8/12/2022. Install is performed by deinstalling the previous version and installing afresh of the new version. I install the latest version regularly. There is probably a new version coming in January so I will wait untill then for uninstall and reinstall of the GPU driver.

4) MemTest: Ran the MemTest today for approximately 2 hours with no errors (see also MemTest86-Report-20230101-124048.html).

5) Bios XMP profile: I have now disabled this in the BIOS

5) Update BIOS: I am going to hold off this step for the moment.

Thanks once again for the feedback!

Kind regards,
