cow_art Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Interesting, I gotta check this tonight. As I didn't see any related items in the Patch notes, I assumed they didn't have the time to sort this out yet. Curious they would sneak that into the Patch without mentioning it.

Currently I can off the top of my head think of several things that could have been fixed: - It's hard to activate ATT hold when you are not well trimmed out. It sometimes just does not come on when activated unless you press FTR directly before you activate ATT hold. - ATT hold switches between submodes without pilot interaction. From what I understand it should not just go e.g. from position hold to velocity hold submode just because the current speed has changed. It should require a press of the FTR to switch the submode. - Position hold sometimes starts to oscillate for no good reason (rarely, but I have seen it happen a few times) I'll definitely give it a whirl tonight. Would be great if some of the issues would have been stealth-fixed Edited January 26, 2023 by cow_art

Would be great if some of the issues would have been stealth-fixed I totally agree on your points #2 and #3. Let's talk about your point #1. While you are correct that you should be able to activate attitude hold without concern if you are trimmed out or not, problem that would occur IRL is force trim. If you release force trim and then move cyclic to new position and then activate ATT hold, you will get a situation where servos are fighting mechanical springs that are trying to get cyclic to trimmed out position. I mean, cyclic would return to its trimmed position, but servos than would have to move to one side to get to ATT hold position, which risks running out of servo authority. And I don't know how FMC is affected by out of trim situation. So, it would make sense that you need to be trimmed out to activate ATT hold.
bradmick Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 (edited) The servos don’t fight the springs of the force trim. There is zero interaction there. And no, I can activate attitude hold at any reasonable orientation, to include sitting on the ground in the real aircraft. Edited January 26, 2023 by bradmick 1
WWSmith Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I guess I should have been more specific when I said that it's fixed for me, although I described my issue earlier in this thread. Anyway, my problem was that, with a force feedback stick, attitude hold was not holding attitude whatsoever at any speed. It did originally, then a couple of patches ago it was changed so that its control authority was extremely weak and couldn't compensate for any mechanical play in the stick, and now it works again. If you don't have force feedback, or maybe a spring-centered stick with a weak spring, then you probably never experienced this problem at all.
Amarok_73 Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 I have the FFB joystick (G940) and since last patch, with stabilization on attitude enabled I can't feel the system to get any authority in the flight, nor in the hover.
