Maverick24 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Hello guys, I have strong problems with my Virpil stick. It is not some kind of module or stick malfunction, but I need to figure it out and I hope here is friends who could help me: I am using this stick and have problem when I click on force trim in heavy maneuvers or at low altitudes. Force trim is mapped to a "thumb" button (close where is force trim in real helicopters) - it´s button 07 and it is a hat switch at the same time. Some times I need to hold my thumb on this button and fly that way till I have enough confidence with actual position in air. But during heavy flying, especialy during fights or hovering, my thumb almost everytime move the button to a one of the hat switch witch caues a same helicopter reaction as I actualy "push off" the button. During hovering or low altitude flying it cause strong maneuver till I make an propriate counteraction = dangerous positions, sometimes crash, definitely everytime loosing stability. I am afraid my english is not good enough to explain what exactly I mean, so I am gonna answer any additional questions. Is there any way to "shut off" for buttons on hat and kill the connection between hat buttons and "main" button? I imagine solution which will provide button ON all the time, till I push off, and it doesn´t do any action when I accidentaly move the hat - button will be always on. Thank you Jiri Edited January 10, 2023 by Maverick24
admiki Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 OK, if I understood correctly, when not paying attention, instead of pressing hat down, you move it to one side, causing another button to fire? And that causes game to recognise it as if you pressed force trim release?
Maverick24 Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 It is not quite about "paying attention", it is very hard to keep pressing thumb in right center position on hat, button pressed, when you moving cyclic (on extender, between my legs, so cyclic move is quite similar to real helicopter). When it happens, I am on edge between pressed button and hat position button, so when I happens, buttons contatcs just go crazy, because I am accidentaly switching between hat button and position button. And that makes very quick on and off force trim - when I am trimming for a turn with a big bank. And it leads most of a time to unstable position of helicopter.
admiki Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I have a question for you. When you fly and you are trimmed out, do you press and hold trim button before you start turning or do you start turning and then press trim button?
Maverick24 Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) I do it excatly like in real Hind or Hip. First I press and hold trim button and then making a maneuver. For example some kind of turn. After I have the right bank and pitch, I release the trim button, return stick to 0 position and watching Hind turning :). Maybe we should focus on options I have for virpil settings, turn off hat buttons, or something, if you could please :). Edited January 10, 2023 by Maverick24
admiki Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Do you have anything binded to your hat? Except trim button for the middle press? If nothing is binded, I don't see how it can cause you problems
Maverick24 Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 No, for Hind no. My opinion is that in moment I "slipped" button to a hat-button, it switches signal, so active button is hat-button, not center button. So from that is a trim released even I think its not. And the way I hold the stick make contacts quick swtiching from one to another. Is there any chance to switch off hat buttons?
admiki Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 OK, so your physical hat is changing mode I know basics of Virpil software but I am not familiar with it. Try this https://www.youtube.com/@HavocCompanyClan
