Hi, 

 

The AI Viggen in this training mission does go full reheat on the ground but won't move an inch.  It won't take-off.

This mission used to work well. How to fix it? I am especially interested in the fix because my custom campaign relies on the same trick to make AI units take-off from the ground.

Hello HB,

After contacting ED through a support ticket, I was directed to you regarding the following:

In May 2021, I uploaded a custom campaign to your website (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3316614/)

It features the Viggen. 7 missions out of 10 start from a road base. Some require an AI aircraft to take-off from the road base.

To make it happen, I had to edit each "mission" file (inside the .miz file) to modify the following under waypoint 1 :

["action"] = "Fr om Ground Area Hot",
["type"] = "TakeOffGroundHot",

I had to make sure the AI aircraft was properly aligned with the runway because they would start their take-off roll right away.

Now, AI aircraft are still properly aligned with the runway, their reheat on, but they do not move.

This issue also affects the “Short field training” instant  mission for the Caucasus ma wh ere an AI Viggen is supposed to take-off from a runway at a secondary airfield in Kutaisi but remains stuck on the ground with its reheat on.

I understand ED is constantly updating the game to make it better. Allowing AI planes to take-off from road base is probably not on your list of priorities.

But, maybe an easy fix can solve the problem. Also, may people downloaded my campaign and are asking why it's broken.

I talked to our developers and they said that you will need to contact the developers of this module (Heatblur Simulations) with your question
unfortunately we don't have such feature for Viggen and your solution is just a temporary trick.
the creators of this module are responsible for this functionality and only they can help you
