Heading hold not working

Hi,

it’s never really worked for me. I engage autopilot, level the wings, turn heading hold on, and the autopilot does not keep the heading but keeps turning at a slow rate. 
I’ve looked in the manual what I’m doing wrong but according to it there should be no further tricks to it. 
anyone experienced this? Or is it a known bug?

I don't know if it's known by the devs, but it's known by me. I usually just turn it on for 2 seconds to have it level my wings, and then turn it off again. The Tomcat is still subject to cross winds after that, but at least your wings are perfectly level.

I tried it with your method. I was able to level the wings one try out of around 5 with that method. My understanding is that bank angle has to be less than 5 degrees for it to be able to level the wings and hold the heading. For some reason it’s not working like that for me

That's weird, it works consistently for me. I manually level my wings to less than +/- 5 deg, then engage AP, flip the heading hold up for a couple seconds while the wings level themselves the rest of the way, then flip the heading hold back off.

Ah thanks, I’ll try that. I think normally I engage the autopilot while still more than 5 degrees bank, and then switch the heading hold when bank is less than 5, but maybe I should switch the AP on only when wings are near level. I’ll check that
