Skinning question: Texture files mystery.

For some odd reason, certain elements of the ka-50 model's uvmap are not included in the template package: engine exhausts/internal parts. At least the internal parts (perhaps the exhausts as well) are stored in a file called ka-50-paintX-DEF-03.bmp, but I can not for the life of me find where it is stored. So why wasn't it included in the template package, and/or does anyone know of a workaround?

This is the file for the exhaust outlet.

Fantastic! Thank you, that's been bugging me forever. But now, that makes me wonder... There's nothing mentioned about it in ka-50.skins, so does that mean if it's altered then it alters it for all the other skins?

Yes, I believe it does. I believe this skin is too silvery on the default skin, On most US aircraft this material would most likely be Iconel or Monel which are forms of corrosion resistant steel. This metal when subjected to heat and the enviornment normally ages to a dark redish brown.

Hi Congo,

Thanks for your help on this subject, I did what I wanted to do for along time and that was to tone down the rotor mast colour on the Standard texture version, well here is a shot of the new texture. Timm

Timm,

Looks good, I think most of the rotor UV maps are included in DCS,s template. Just remember that the layers have multiple subsets that you can view with the drop down arrows, so if you want to turn off markings and such you can.

I can't find the textures for the rotor links and the collective rotor arms.

Can any one help me?

Greets.
