  1. On most conventional aircraft flying in the sub-sonic area with out computer assistance, ie most propeller and turboprops the horizontal stabilizer and elevator do not develop lift in straight and level flight, They create a negative lift in order to have longitudenal stability.
  2. Other areas of the map. These are textures taken from user made maps in IL-2 and ported over to the autumn textures in FC-2. I just use JSGME to swap them back and forth and I modified them to suit my own personal taste. So it was necessary to photoshop them before I put them to use. I also did some palms and desert plants as an adjunct to the ground textures
  3. The specific texture you are looking for is KA-50-PAINT1-DEF-04.bmp but it needs to be converted to use with CDDS explorer. If you pm me your email address I can send you dds file but you will still need to insert it using CDDS explorer. Inserting textures is pretty simple but you will need Modman with CDDS explorer. If you have it just open the Explorer and click on the file folder in the upper right hand corner and then navigate to the Bazaar/World/World Textures BMP3-------CDDS archive and the explorer will allow you to view, extract or insert textures into the archive. They do need to be in the proper format in order to do this which is dds.
  4. Should be in Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/FC2/Bazaar/World. Check to make sure that both the CDDS files contain all the same textures. Then copy world bmp 3 from FC2 to KA-50 maintaining the proper structure/ ED/FC2/Bazaar/World/world textures bmp 3 to ED/KA-50/Bazaar/World/world textures bmp 3. BTW if you have CDDS explorer you can extract the texture from the FC2 CDDS file and put it in the KA-50 CDDS file but you will need to convert the extracted bmp file to dds before doing so. And be aware that if your world folder contains any custom skins you may lose them when replacing with the FC2 folder.
  5. The updrafts are not produced by the Cumulus cloud. The cloud is a result of the upflowing column of air carrying moisture and debris aloft. The upflow is produced by heating of the earth and subsequent heating of air. Downflow is produced by cooling of the column.
  6. Locate the CDDS file in FC2 and copy it to BS and that should repair the pylon. I believe its in World Textures BMP3. If you have Modman installed use the CDDS explorer to find the file.
  7. I think he is looking for a way to prevent the sim from starting in the zoomed in view. The parameters for both of these lines 940 and 951 are already at approx 90.
  8. Look in your view lua file for this line, CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {20.0, 120.0} First is zoom in view and second is zoom out view.
  9. Its for my own use as a lot of the textures were used in maps offered at other sites and I don't feel like tracking down the authors to request permission. I believe a large part of these textures were taken from google earth.
  10. I just incoporated some desert textures from IL2
  11. If you take a close look at the HSI you will see that the degree markings are incorrect it should be 12 15 18 instead of 12 12 12 and on an english marked instrument it would have an N intead of C. I actually placed N S E and W on mine in larger text to make it easier to read when zoomed out.
  12. If you use modman with your install it should have a feature for looking at CDDS files. Some of these files contain the texture files that are used in the simulation. You can edit or correct these textures if you have photoshop, gimp or some other adequate editing software. You just need to know how to use the apps.
  13. Condolences to Russian People Condolences to the Russian People on the loss of Mikhail Simonov, He was truly an aircraft designer who walked among the great ones of the past. The Su-27 is probably one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built.
  14. Thanks Recardo !! Just one issue..HIS has several of the same degree numbers, all 12.. If you have photo-editing software and Modman so you can extract the file, it is a fairly simple fix. The file resides in sharkb.cdds and is KA-50DASH-BOARD ENG.TGA extract it using Modman CDDS explorer. After you install the mod the sharkb.cdds file will be located in Bazaar?World folder. Make corrections to the TGA file and then save as a dds file at dxt5 with 13 mipmapps and then use insert with Modman CDDS explorer to replace this texture. Hope this helps.
  15. Thanks EtherealN, for some reason my puter recognized it as a winzip file. Once I changed the extension to miz everything fine.
  16. I downloaded an A10 mission in the user files section and there are no miz files in the zip just a file called mission but without the .miz extension and an options file. The mission was Hunting the Hawk http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/?arrFilter_pf%5Baircraft%5D=&arrFilter_pf%5Bfiletype%5D=1&arrFilter_pf%5Bgameversion%5D=19&arrFilter_pf%5Bfilelang%5D=&set_filter=Filter&set_filter=Y
  17. I noticed that the zip files contain two files a mission file and an options file. Where do you install these to be able to fly the mission. I tried putting the zip file in modman and installing but they dont show up in the missions list. What am I doing wrong, thanks for any help!
  18. I for the life of me can't figure out why they made the dust the rotor kicks up near the ground a nice light brown and then made the dust the ground vehicles kick up a shade of gray/green seems like it is all the same dust n'est pas. And if its suppose to be exhaust I think it is still not right, just my 2 cents. aaron 886 if you find the solution please let us know.
  19. I would be interested in the fix for this also as the green road dust looks very un-natural.
  20. http://www.fas.org/ I would think most of that info was taken from Technical Orders and military documentation. If you research Martin Baker and Escapac and ACES II there is a lot more information to be had. Some of the reading on the Zero Zero systems is quite interesting. We,ve come a long way since they used bungees to fling the pilot from the aircraft. Here are some more interesting tidbits. http://www.authorsden.com/categories/article_top.asp?catid=73&id=36728
